The Congressional Democrats seem not to understand that it is their job to represent the people, not rule over the people. The Democrats seem to think that despite the fact that their health care legislation is highly unpopular among the populace, it is their duty to continue to push the legislation through, even if it takes paying off Senators that are not sure of their position on the issue, or are concerned about their standing with the voters.
In fact, in a recent Rasmussen Poll, 62% of those surveyed said that they were opposed to a single-payer health care system, which is the ultimate goal of the Democrats in office. Nonetheless, the liberal Democrats are pushing a bill that unconstitutionally mandates citizens purchase health insurance.
Meanwhile, in light of the payoffs to Democratic Senators, which creates unequal provisions among the states, thirteen state attorney generals are threatening to bring about a lawsuit regarding the unconstitutionality of the deals, payoffs, and design of the health care legislation which, among other things, gives Nebraska a deal that exempts them for paying for increased costs, while other states pick up the tab.
