Obama: The Health Care Tax is not a tax, but it is. . .

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Last September Barack Obama got into an argument (well, okay, "spirited discussion") with George Stephanopoulos on the ABC News program “This Week.” Stephanopoulos argued that in the health care bill the mandate to buy insurance, enforced by financial penalties, was equivalent to a tax. Obama disagreed, saying it is not a tax in any way, shape, or form.

The health care law describes the levy on the uninsured as a “penalty” rather than a tax.

Now, in the face of a legal challenge, the Democrats, and Mr. Obama, have changed their tune. Suddenly, the penalty is a tax. They feel the need to say that because they have the authority to levy and raise taxes, but they do not have the authority to mandate people buy a product.

Which means that everything Obama and the Democrats have said about the health care legislation up to this point was an out-and-out lie! Small firms are now no longer able to provide health insurance, and if you like your insurance, you won't be able to keep it. And if you don't have insurance, you will face a penalty for it, and it will be a tax.

The private sector insurance companies will be out of business before the hanky hits the ground. But that is the intention of the socialists in power. The whole point of the health care law is to put the private industry out of business, and make the government the sole provider of health insurance, and ultimately, health care as a whole.

If the government can force citizens to buy health insurance, what will they force upon us next? What mandates are on the horizon?

What is the answer to the question? What question, you ask? Any question. Anytime, anyplace, the answer to the question when it comes to the liberals is, "Whatever benefits the Democrat Party the most - even if it is a contradiction."

They are hoping you folks have a short memory.
