A Lesson Of Tyranny

By Douglas V. Gibbs

On Sunday Night's Political Pistachio Radio Revolution somebody hacked into the chat room that accompanies the program. Once they gained control of my identity in the chat room, they typed things that I would never say, most of which were of a sexual nature, and then began to ban all of my listeners. I called them cowards on the air, and dared the morons to call the show.

A person that claimed to be one of the hackers did call into the show, and proclaimed that his "boss" was the boss of the Internet, and that he was using his ability to shut down a number of conservative shows on Blog Talk Radio to show how powerful he is.

I simply told him that all he was doing was showing what kind of thug he is, and is meanwhile strengthening my show.

This is normal behavior for leftists. You see, they are unable to win in the arena of ideas. They aren't even able to compete in the arena of ideas. They are unable to put forth ideas regarding their policies that may be good for America. All they understand is bigger government, the politicians being rulers over the people, and viciously attacking their opposition. This is one of the reasons the Democrats are planning on running an "attack Bush" campaign as November approaches. This is why they have attacked the Tea Party Movement, proclaiming the Tea Party to be racist. This is why if a Republican even gets caught up in being accused of being in a scandal (regardless of the truth), he is fried - while Democrats guilty of worse are given a pass, and are forgiven. And this is why liberal left bloggers spend all of their time attacking the opposition, rather than discussing the issues. To them the end justify the means. The progressives drive their power by utilizing the tools of class envy and hatred.

There is nothing good to say about their side's policies, either.

President Obama, and the Congressional Democrats, have had ample time to put their policies in place, and for them to begin showing some semblance of success - and they are not. The Democrats have had control of Congress since 2007, and all we've seen from them is thuggery, bribes of their own members, excessive spending, and elitist arrogance. Not a single positive thing has come out of the Left's control of Congress.

They don't care what is good for America. All they care about is what is good for them, and the expansion of the federal government.

During my radio show I also asked the liberals listening, "Under Obama and the Congressional Democrats we see more power being given to the government. We are seeing more allowance for decision making, without Congressional oversight, without the voice of the People, and without the voice of the States, being given to the Executive Branch. And I am sure a good number of you liberals trust the current gang of incompetent idiots currently in power in Washington DC. You believe that Obama is trying to do what is best for you, and you believe that the Congressional Democrats are trying to do what is best for you, and you believe that they deserve, or need, such power to accomplish such feats. But do you trust the next guy? Do you trust the next President, Republican or Democrat, to manage this kind of power in a way fair to the people? Do you desire somebody else to possess the power that is currently accumulating into Obama's hands, and not abuse it? When you hand out power in such a way, eventually a tyrant grabs a hold of it."

This is why we should never, ever, ever allow government to accumulate too much power over our lives, be it through health care, the auto industry, the financial system, energy, or anything else. This is why the U.S. Constitution was written to limit the authorities of the federal government. This is why we must decentralize the federal governmental system. And this is why We The People must be involved in the process, and for that matter the States need to be involved in the process, so that the federal government remains checked, and limited.

You, my liberal friends, may trust Obama (I don't, but you may), but are you ready to trust the next president with this kind of power? Are you willing to trust the next gang of Congressional whoevers? Are you willing to let the next group of folks leading the federal government to dictate, mandate, and control the people as is this administration? Because the elitists don't have your best interests at heart, they have the interest of their power at heart.

We are not supposed to be putting elitists into office. It is dangerous to put into government people who believe that they alone are capable of deciding what is best for you, regardless of your opinion. Believe it, or not, the people are able to make their own decisions. Individualism, personal responsibility, and self-reliance are all good things.

When you hand your lives over into the hands of a governmental entity, you hand over your freedom. And if not by this administration, such folly will be taken advantage of by an administration of the future.

You, my liberal readers, may trust Obama, and the Congressional Democrats. But I don't trust anybody with that kind of power. If tyranny has arrived through Obama, or if it arrives later on, you will have nobody but yourselves to blame for granting to the federal government the kind of power we are granting it now.

Ask yourself this, liberals: Do you wish for the federal government to rule over you? Or do you wish for them to serve you, and partner with you? Do you desire tyranny? Or freedom? Do you desire that your politicians have massive power? Or do you wish for their power to be limited? Because, you know, I do remember the worries the Democrats, and a number of non-Democrats as well, had over the Patriot Act, and the kind of power that Bush would have. During that time period you worried about the power being given to the federal government, yet you don't now?

Let me ask you it this way: With the kind of power you are granting Obama, and this group of Congressional Democrats, would you have been willing to grant this kind of power to Bush, and his Republican Congress?

I doubt it.

Therefore, the best way to keep from granting too much power to the wrong president, or the wrong Congress, is to not grant too much power to the federal government at all.

That is how federalism works, that is how liberty works, and that is how the Constitution works. The powers delegated to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite.

You are giving power to the government because you think they care about doing the right thing, but in reality, all they care about is their power.
