A 7.1 magnitude earthquake, and up to 30 aftershocks, have hit New Zealand. A curfew is in place through 7 a.m. Sunday in Christchurch, where parts of the city have been declared off limits.
Utility services have been disrupted, and it is expected to take several days before power and water is restored.
The initial earthquake hit at 4:35 Saturday morning, with the epicenter about 25 miles west of Christchurch.
