A number of things became clear during Election 2010, or at least clear to the voters. However, none of that clarity is understood for the most part by the GOP Establishment, or Democrats.
The Tea Party is more than a mere movement, and in all honesty if it was not for the Tea Party, by now there would be little difference between the two political parties in America. Fact is, the Tea Party has awakened a segment of the Republican Party that has been asleep. Conservatism was dying in the GOP, and the Tea Party enlivened Conservatives, and reminded the Republican Party why it exists in the first place.
While many were crying that there is no difference in the two political parties, and pushing for the emergence of a third party, it was the Tea Party that refused to abandon the GOP, and made November 2nd a triumph. A third party would have split the right-of-center vote, and Leftism would have remained in power in perpetuity. Instead, the Tea Party reminded the Republicans of who they are, and encouraged a Republican voter turnout that has not been seen since 1970.
The Tea Party rejected the political establishment's definition of Conservatism, and demanded that true Conservatism become the party platform. The Tea Party demanded through simply being active that spending be reduced, the laws be enforced, and the Constitution be returned to. And as a result, the Republican politicians are nervous; and they should be. Real change is in the air - change back to what made the Republican Party great in the first place.
The Reagan Conservatives in the GOP became nothing more than your run of the mill politicians over the years. They became a part of the establishment, setting aside what is best for the country, and replacing it with what they think is best for their political careers. They fell into the same old trap that Conservatism speaks out against. Rather than showing up, doing their work, and then going home, they became life-long politicians more interested in the next reelection, than what their authorities are according to the Constitution, or what the people sent them there to do.
As the establishment grew, they expanded government no different than the liberals do. The people became irritated, and the voter turnout for the GOP dropped with each passing election. The people, angry at the GOP, stayed home in 2006 and 2008; it took hard left Marxists to wake them up again, and the Tea Party was born.
Some of the Establishment Republicans know what they have done. They know that they have changed over the years. But their addiction to government, power, and bureaucracy, has made them defiant to the changing tide. For that, the American People voted many of them out in the Primaries, and then finished the job by kicking the leftists out on Election Day.
A crisis has come to America, and the people have spoken - through the Tea Party.
But the work is not finished. Though the Tea Party won pretty much all of its races except for Sharon Angle in Nevada and Christine O'Donnell in Delaware, there is still much to do, and it is not time for us to return to our lazy chairs.
The political dynamics are changing. The rise of the Tea Party has awakened the American People, and is changing the face of politics. The energy of the Tea Party has awakened the Conservatives, and the vessel that is the Republican Party will never be the same.
Obama, Pelosi, and the hard left agenda, has been rejected. These people may still be in office, but they are now surrounded by a hostile crowd. The stimulus, deficit, and government takeover of the private sector has been rejected. The voters have spoken, and the tides are turning.
As a matter of fact, those two Tea Party candidates that lost, Angle and O'Donnell, won more than people realize. Yes, the race may have been lost, but their massive national donor lists have continued to give them money. This means we have not seen the last of these Tea Party gals. Like the Tea Party, they are not prepared to rest either.
The work has only begun.
