Memorial? Or Pep Rally?

By Douglas V. Gibbs

When in trouble, reasons Obama, go into campaign mode.

The memorial was replete with campaign T-shirts with a logo, and a snappy slogan, "Together We Thrive." They waited until mid-week to give time for the shirts to come in, I figure. One wonders, will "Together We Thrive" also be the 2012 campaign slogan?

A solemn time of mourning became a campaign opportunity, complete with accusations by the Left of the Right, and wild applause.

Where was the respect for the dead?

The church of statism didn't stop there. Rather than have clergy read the Bible, the ministers of the leftist governmental machine read verses. However, the verses that Janet Napolitano and Barack Obama quoted were completely irrelevent to the situation. It was a show by people ignorant of faith, and play acting to look as if they care, when in reality the death of the fallen, in their opinion, is nothing but a political opportunity.

The memorial had more of a feel of a campaign pep rally, than that of a memorial ceremony.

These people disgust me. Have they no respect for the dead?
