Flag Day was today. Today's Flag Day observances mark the 234th anniversary of the Second Continental Congress' adoption of a flag with 13 stripes and 13 stars.
Around the nation today were events to honor the flag with performances of such patriotic songs as the "The Star-Spangled Banner," "Stars & Stripes Forever" and "God Bless America."
Flag Day has been observed since Congress approved a joint resolution on Aug. 3, 1949, designating June 14 as Flag Day.
One Nation Under God.
