Thousands upon thousands of Egyptians assembled in Cairo's Tahrir Square on Friday, with mass participation of several Islamist groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood and the Salafists.
Despite an agreement among various groups, fears are emerging about possible divisions between the Islamist and secular groups who have been camping out on the square throughout most of July. And Friday's protest was marked by the highly visible participation of the Muslim Brotherhood members and the Salafists, according to Israeli intelligence sources.
While President Barack Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and other American leaders downplay the threat of radical Islam in Egypt, those knowledgeable about the region know that Islamists are always a threat to Arab governments.
