"Two students were suspended this week for Tebowing in the hallway of their Long Island high school. The kids were imitating Broncos QB Tim Tebow's touchdown ritual of dropping to one knee in prayer, a pose that has become a nationwide fad. Despite what a few senders of hate mail to the school thought, however, the punishments were not prompted by the religious element, but rather because the students were clogging the hallways." Newser
Perhaps God Loves Football. But, you know, I have been doing all I can to restrain myself from commenting on Tim Tebow. Now, however, it's gotten to the point that I can't run and hide from it any longer.
As a person, I like Tebow. If only the rest of the players in the league had his kind of drive, determination, and spirituality. As a Christian, I appreciate his dedication to God, his display of worship, and the fact that he serves as a good example for Christians and non-Christians alike on and off the field.
That said, as a football fan he drives me nuts. The guy has no talent when it comes to throwing the ball, and his decision making abilities are hardly that of an NFL quarterback. Yet, thanks to a really good defense, a phenomenal kicker, and the positive energy Tebow injects into that team, the Denver Broncos are winning.
I am in conflict. It is a fun story to watch, but it is intertwined with a guy who wins despite the fact that he plays bad football.
New England should end Denver's streak this weekend.
If the Broncos beat the Patriots, though, God help us.
