United Nations Recognizes Palestine, Raises Palestinian Flag

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Shortly after Newt Gingrich labeled the Palestinians as "invented," the United Nations has decided to raise the Palestinian flag at the United Nations cultural agency UNESCO to symbolize Palestine's admission in October as a full member of the international organization. I don't think the two are connected, but the timing is interesting.

President Mahmoud Abbas said he hoped this move was the beginning of international recognition for Palestine.

A diplomatic victory for Abbas, and Palestine, the move to recognize a Palestinian state at the United Nations has been continuously opposed by Israel and the United States.

Despite the UNESCO vote in October, Israel has continued to establish new settlements in areas the Palestinians claim is their land.

Historically, Palestine has rejected a number of opportunities to establish their own State. The change of mind is politically driven, since the political landscape in Europe and the United States has moved drastically to the Left, and has become more anti-Israel.

Prior to the fall of the Ottoman Empire, the most recent Islamic Caliphate, there was no such thing as Palestine. As Gingrich recently pointed out, "It was part of the Ottoman Empire. And I think that we've had an invented Palestinian people who are, in fact, Arabs and who were historically part of the Arab community."

Some evidence even shows that these refugees that have been historically rejected by the Muslim nations of the Middle East are descended from Crete.

The liberals refuse to recognize such things. The Left wants you to believe the Palestinians are a historical people, and they are living in a historical place stolen from them. But in reality, there's not an ethnicity of people called the Palestinians. There never has been. The Arabs now sell the idea of a people called the Palestinians because it is politically expedient. The acceptance of the Palestinians moves them closer to their goal of eliminating Israel. It also gives them another avenue to demonize the Israelis. Muslims blame everything on the Jews, and the liberal left is following suit like the mindless sheep that they are. Palestinian missiles bombard Israel continuously, but when Israel dares to defend herself, the Muslims scream, "See how mean those Jews are? Look at what the Jews are doing to our poor oppressed people."

To destroy Israel, they need to step that up, and making Palestine a sovereign nation will help in that respect. It will enable them to garner more sympathy.

Newt was right, however, about his "invented Palestinians" remark.

Palestine constantly attacks Israel, and the United Nations, and the current liberal democrats in control of the federal government, rejects reality, talks down to Israel, and is trying to pressure the Israelis into a peace process that Palestine, and the other Muslim communities, have no intention in abiding by. Palestinians are not poor oppressed peoples. They are terrorists. They teach terrorism in their schools. And we give them aid!

We are trying to make peace with these people, while they plan the elimination of Israel, and how to go against the United States. They take our money and use it to kill Israelites. And then we are told to speak carefully, because we don't to anger them, because they might get mad.

If they are driven by a "Religion of Peace," then why is it that we are so worried they will get violent if we upset them?

Making Palestine a recognized sovereign state is a step towards the death of Israel, as the Muslims want. We are falling into their trap, and the United Nations is doing it with a smile. Raising that flag is another nail in the coffin. It's the signing of Israel's death warrant. Making Palestine a recognized sovereign nation does not move us towards peace, but enables more violence.
