The headline is alarming enough: "Napolitano to Border agents: Run and Hide from Shooter".
The federal government won't enforce their own immigration laws. They sued the State of Arizona for daring to try to enforce those laws. They fight against voter ID laws. And now, when the violence at the border reaches out to border agents, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano had determined that it is best for the border agents to run and hide.
Sometimes, I feel like I have fallen through a rabbit hole. None of it makes any sense.
From a personal point of view, I get it. Deep down we are caring people and we hate to see folks struggle, and we understand that America is a place people yearn to be. But first of all the law is the law, and if we are willing to break the law with illegal aliens, where does it stop? Second, if Mexico has become such a bad place, why do we want the people who made it that way coming here?
Oh, that's right, the hard left thinks America made Mexico the rotten place it has become.
My wife was born in Mexico. We don't go there anymore. It is too dangerous. But it is not just the drug cartels, but the overall state of things there. The over-powerful federal government has wrecked the place. The entitlement system has destroyed individualism, and the ability of people to do for themselves. They have become slaves to the government.
Back in the fifties and sixties migrant workers crossed the border, but people looked the other way. It was different then. They worked in the fields, saved their money, and then immigrated here legally. While here illegally, they obeyed local laws and customs, were polite, and were happy just to be able to work. The illegal alien of today crosses the border with his hand out, demanding what they did not pay in taxes for, nor have any legal right to.
What is worse, securing the border is not just about stopping illegal Mexicans, and other central and south Americans from crossing, but also members of Islam. One in three illegals to cross the border in San Diego are of Middle Eastern descent.
