"Well, at least they made a deal to avoid the fiscal cliff," the driver said to me over the CB Radio.
"You make it sound like any deal is a good deal," I responded.
"It's better than going over the cliff," he said.
Hence, the reason the democrats called it the fiscal cliff in the first place. Fear. They wanted the populace to panic, demanding that something be done. . . anything!
So, they give us a bad deal with a raise in taxes, minimal spending cuts, overall spending increases, no budget in over 1,000 days, they vote on the bill three minutes after receiving it (which means nobody read it), and Barry came back from his $4 million vacation (spending millions more taxpayer dollars to return to Washington, and then fly back to Hawaii) to sign an executive order giving all of them raises in pay, and because it was a crisis the voters are all relieved we avoided a disaster.
The bill did nothing but sink us further. I averted no crisis. They told you there was a crisis, then raised taxes, increased spending, and gave themselves pay raises, and everyone is saying, "Whew, we avoided the fiscal cliff."
How stupid do they think the American People are?
And remember, these are the same people who call the successful members of the private sector, like "big oil," and insurance companies - greedy!
All of this without the transparency we were promised. Remember that GOP pledge that we'd have three days to read the bill? Remember Obama's pledge way back in 2008 about being more transparent?
Liars - all of them.
But then again, we knew that.
Think about this a moment. The ruling elite (as they see themselves) is deciding who deserves to keep their own money, how much of it you are allowed to keep, and how you can run your lives (through all of the new regulations) - based on their big government decisions - and because they used scary words like "fiscal cliff," we are relieved they gave us a very bad bill - because "at least something was done." They took more money from us, promised to continue out of control spending, and gave themselves a raise.
I am disgusted by this. Absolutely disgusted.
