Chasing Chimera

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Chimera is the term used for "an organism composed of two or more genetically distinct tissues, as an organism that is partly male and partly female, or an artificially produced individual having tissues of more than one species."  In recent posts I have referred to stories about how scientists are working to use their knowledge of genetics to manipulate DNA, not only in the hopes of eradicating genetic deformities and diseases, but also to see what limits they can push.  From cloning to the creation of hermaphrodites and multi-species chimera, despite governmental oversight and restrictions, the envelope is being pushed.

Today, Rush Limbaugh said on his radio program that "America is changing, it has changed, in the blink of an eye."  He was referring to the political and social nature of the nation as seen from the point of view of the liberal left.  They believe the United States has turned a corner, and in a sense, it has.  People have been convinced that change is good for the sake of change, and that nothing is the limit.  Liberalism, like sexual immorality, scientific discovery, and drug use is a never ending need for more and more.  The current drug becomes boring, and it takes more for the thrill.  The Left is not satisfied with the control they have gained.  They will want more, and they will push for more, like all tyrannies do.  The gay agenda won't be happy with marriage.  They will want more.  They will work to eradicate all opposition, while seeking more and more sexual perversion.  Society will not stop with homosexuality.  Polygamy, pedophilia and beastiality are all waiting in line.  And eventually, even they will not be enough to satisfy the sexual appetite of pushing the envelope just a little further.  Science won't be gratified with just understanding DNA.  Their genetic appetite will want more.  Cloning and genetic manipulation is only the tip of the iceberg.  They will create chimera, and those chimera will be eventually introduced into society, and that is when all three appetites will converge.

What I speak of is normally left to the imaginations of science fiction.  Doctor Moreau's Island, comes to mind.  But don't discount what I am writing, just yet, for remember that the idea that the "dykes and fairies" of the sixties would demand marriage and for society to accept their sexual behavior as normal was just as preposterous at one point, but look where we are.

Change is accelerating.  Will chimera someday be walking the streets, participating in societal functions, and even interbreeding with pure humans happen within our lifetime?  Will the sexual perversion get to the point that they demand sex with hybrid humans?  Will politics get to the point where they will demand these creations be granted a vote?  Will science get so far that finding a human pure in his generations will be a difficult task?

The envelope never stops being pushed, unless an obstacle stops its procession.  You don't have to believe me about chimera, but believe that progress can be good, and it can be dangerous, and in liberalism's hands, we are indeed in for a very dangerous ride. . . unless we do something to stop it.
