There is an old saying: "If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it is probably a duck." Perhaps a humorous way of looking at a common sense way of reasoning. But it seems in the political world when perception is everything, we have failed to recognize the obvious. With all of the name calling, accusations, and propaganda, often the truth gets stuck somewhere under a tall stack of documents.
The whole idea behind the "duck reasoning" is that we can often identify a subject by observing and recognizing their habitual characteristics. Those that have something to hide often call this "being judgmental," or being a "hater." Truth is, the truth is the truth, and no amount of propaganda, or pluralistic social engineering, can hide the truth from someone willing to seek it out.
In the end, what we find, is often things are not always what they appear to be, but only because the quack and swimming techniques of the duck are being hidden behind a cloud of distractions.
The younger you are, sometimes, the more difficult it is to work through the bull feces to find the reality of the world. As we get older, many of us discard childish things, peal back the veneer, and begin to see things for what they are. Suddenly, we realize that the odd sheep in the herd was indeed a wolf all along, and that behind the curtain was not a great and powerful leader, but nothing more than a foolish and distraught little man pulling levers and speaking into a voice-amplification device. The ones accused of being racist were actually the ones behind the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the ones claiming to be in the corner of minorities were actually the ones that created the Ku Klux Klan for the purpose of having a militant arm of their party to frighten blacks out of voting, and running for office. After opening the box, and peering into the souls of the politicians, we find that many progressives have infiltrated the Republican Party, and the Democrat Party is a Godless, Anti-American party that has more in common with Karl Marx than with We The People.
Progressives believe we have turned a corner. We have jumped the shark, and there is no turning back. America is now a leftist nation, and the Democrats will now be in power in perpetuity.
The British had similar thoughts prior to 1776.
As a result of their new found power, and the rise of their belief that they are now in a position of majority control with a majority of the voters behind them, the seams in the curtains are widening, and the reality of who the leftists are is becoming more apparent. They are exposing themselves for who they really are, and unlike the last hundred years, they are not overly concerned that the truth seeps out.
Government is only supposed to exist to protect individual rights to Life, Liberty and Property. Government is not supposed to try to protect man from himself, or re-distribute wealthy from one group of individuals to another, or to grant privileges to one group over another. Government is not supposed to operate in any and every role or situation we can think of. Liberty is rights with responsibilities. We don't deserve our rights if we are not willing to protect them ourselves, as well. We don't have a license to our freedom, where it is ours just because we want it and the government finds in its black heart the willingness to grant it. Freedoms must be preserved, promoted, and defended. The statists of the Left believe otherwise.
Any opposition to big government cannot be tolerated by those in power, so they work to whittle away at our rights and freedoms. A person that dares to disagree with government does not have to have his life taken from him to be killed. Tyranny removes a man's right to property, or his freedom to produce the property needed to maintain his life, and provides those things instead through what becomes known as "Entitlement Programs," convincing the person that government is a necessary part of their life, and without government, survival is impossible. The government then restricts man's ability to keep what he produces, and takes in taxes whatever is left. In this way, government kills the man, sickening him to the point that he cannot fight back because the will to fight for his liberty and freedom has been broken, and he must then accept the overwhelming power of the government.
How can government take these things when they are not theirs to take in the first place? Our rights, and our individuality, does not belong to government. These things were given to us by God. Government cannot remove what the Creator gave to us, unless we let them. Therefore, if we wish to protect our rights from those that wish to limit them, we must fight to keep them. The founders understood that government was a necessary evil, and an important component when it came to protecting our rights, and our liberty. Therefore, they created a federal government that would serve as a vehicle to protect human rights, but limited the government with a Constitution in order to enable the government to stand the test of time, while providing checks and balances important in the battle to stave off tyranny. However, they also realized that giving such power to a central government, even with the limitations in place, was dangerous, and if the wrong kind of men gained control of that government, they could abuse it, and use it as a vehicle to destroy or limit the rights of the people who created the government in the first place, if the people did not remained informed, and if the people became complacent.
With freedom comes responsibility.
The Leftist machine has slowly climbed the ladder to take control of the private markets. That is what Obamacare is all about. That is what the bailout of General Motors and Chrysler was about. That is what the Banking Reform Law was all about. The goal of the statists is for the government to become the employer of all workmen, and ultimately to be the agency that can give you the allowance to the "privilege" of working. And if you don't work, you starve.
The goal is to make society a giant prison yard, with them set up as the guardians. You work, you eat, and you get your health care when they tell you that you can. In prison there are only two classes of people: the givers, and the receivers. And in such a society, the receivers are not free to provide for themselves, nor are they free to come and go as they choose. Government tells us it is for our own good to be prisoners, and that we could not possibly be happier providing for ourselves. Government is the ultimate provider, they want you to believe, and without government you will be miserable.
The problem for the Leftists is that there is a counter-argument against them that still exists. Individualism reveals that even while struggling, providing for oneself is a much more rewarding experience than government control. This nation was built on the idea of individualism. The Stars and Stripes represent the centuries of struggles to maintain that freedom to be an individual. And those that hold that flag high tend to also believe that the right to hold that flag high, and the blessing of individualism, is the result of Divine Providence. The ultimate symbol of freedom and patriotism is God.
Patriotism and Christianity, therefore, are enemies of the State.
And that is where we step off the platform for a moment to observe the duck. As the duck walks, swims and quacks, realize that the Democrats tell us constantly who they really are. The proof is in the headlines:
