If I said it once, I've said it a dozen times, whether you like Ted Cruz, or not, people are talking about him. The Tea Party believes he made the right move when Cruz challenged the status-quo and demanded a defunding of Obamacare. His filibuster was criticized by Democrats and Republicans alike, but they were talking about it, and the failings of Obamacare.
Someone told me a story about Barry Goldwater. He was crucified by the media, and is used as an example of how conservatism loses, when the sympathy factor was behind Lyndon B. Johnson to the point that George Washington couldn't have beaten him. However, despite the accusations, and the attacks, in the end conservatism won. Goldwater's biggest supporters, Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan, wound up benefiting from their support of Goldwater by both eventually becoming President of the United States.
Like Ted Cruz, I am a firm believer that trying to compromise with the left, picking and choosing our battles, and trying to be careful is a losing strategy. We are up against an ancient evil, and they will never be defeated, and never be stopped. We can, however, slow them down, and back them up, but it takes hitting the left hard, often, and nonstop. The clock is ticking, and we have little time.
And yes, despite Ted Cruz's actions that seemed unpopular with the media, the establishment, and party hacks from both parties, in the eyes of the people, Ted Cruz was, and is, very influential.
