The proposal to split up the massive State of California is nothing new. Usually, it is a battle between Northern California, and Southern California, with water being the dividing issue. In the case of venture capitalist Tim Draper, he would like to see it broken up into six states. His reasoning is to give more power to the tech-money in California, largely by the way of increasing the area's representation in the United States Senate.
Never mind that the Senate is set up the way it is partly to keep the more populated States from dominating the political scene in Washington.
Draper is working to get the proposal on the ballot, but according to the United States Constitution, Article IV, Section 3, the State Legislature in Sacramento, and the United States Congress, would have to approve the break-up, as well. The people can vote for such a split up of the State of California all they want, but without Sacramento and Washington behind it, it will never happen.
Remember, it wasn't too long ago that thirteen counties in Southern California were considering a similar action, as suggested by Riverside County politician, Jeff Stone.
I don't believe the liberal left power grabbers in Sacramento would be willing to give up that much power, and tax money.
Another reason Draper may want to split up the State is because under liberal leadership the business end of California is dying. Regulations and taxes are through the roof, and companies are bailing out of the State, and are going to places like Texas, where conservative leadership provides a much more business-friendly environment.
In other words, to fix California we don't need to break it up into little pieces. To fix California, we must free it from the insanity of liberal left leadership.
Most people don't see that happening anytime soon. However, let's remember that as bad as the Golden State is now under the Marxist leadership of Jerry Brown, and his gestapo, the State was in much worse shape in the Sixties before Ronald Reagan got the State turned around.
