Barack Obama As "The Black Shadow"

by JASmius

Barack Obama's approval rating has fallen badly in the national polls. His ratings are historically low: the second lowest in modern history at this point of a Presidency. Here come the excuses. Obama desperately wants us to believe it's all because he's black.

Over thirty years ago, in the late 1970s during the "first generation" run of Saturday Night Live, former NBA great Bill Russell guest-hosted one of their episodes.  One of the skits they did was a parody of a TV drama of the time called The White Shadow, which starred Ken Howard as "a white former NBA professional retires from the pro game and gets a job as a basketball coach in a predominantly black inner-city high school."  The skit was entitled, "The Black Shadow," with, of course, Bill Russell in the Ken Howard role at a rich, white high school in which he keeps getting undercut and sabotage and otherwise lampooned.  I don't remember much else about it other than the core running punchline every time Russell's character gets zinged: "Because you're black!"

Funny part was, Russell brayed his trademark cackle every time it was uttered.

That's what I think of every time O leans on his race crutch.

Nobody would ever do such a skit now of course, least of all on NBCCCP.  But somebody should.  It's never been more emphatically needed.
