A couple buildings have already exploded into flames as trees in the residential neighborhood light up like tiki torches. The 30 acre fire has prompted mandatory evacuations, and a school closure. The river of smoke can be seen throughout the LA Basin, and throughout the Inland Empire. The location of the fire just north of Glendora is heavily wooded, providing plenty of fuel for the flames. The fire is moving southward rapidly, encouraged by the dry weather and a continuation of the high winds the region has been having. The destructive potential of this fire is staggering.
UPDATE 10AM: 1700 acres burned. 5 structures destroyed, 3 of them houses.
