SIR HAGEL THE CHICKEN-HEARTED: The people are revolting!
KING HUSSEIN: Yes!...they!...are!

The Associated Press just released analysis of the US government's responses to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, and it ain't pretty. The US denied or censored answers to almost 40% of citizens' requests for information. That's the bad news. The good news is, more and more people are issuing these requests, because they are starting to realize that maybe they should care about what the government is doing and what it means in terms of our day-to-day lives being affected. The Resident discusses.
Color me skeptical. It's human nature that people generally "wake up" when they're dead, and not before. And as late in the game as we are now, those that wake up now are disproportionately likely to wind up dead a whole lot sooner than later.
Hope, in other words, is a harsh mistress. But, like all of you, I ultimately can't help myself, no matter how much I know better.
