It's almost as if he was trying to create a self-fulfilling prophecy, isn't it?:
The offices of the Atlanta Braves have been flooded with racist letters, emails, and phone calls attacking Hall of Famer Hank Aaron after his interview comparing the way Republicans treat President Barack Obama to the Ku Klux Klan.Stop the tape. "Racist" letters, emails, phone calls, etc., Newsmax? Or angry, indignant retorts to Aaron's own racist, hateful spewings?
USA Today writer Bob Nightengale said the "sheer racism" of the attack against Aaron was similar to the racist onslaught that the African-American star faced in 1974 when he broke Babe Ruth's home-run record.
Stop the tape. What "racism," Bob? Who started this pissing match with flagrant race-baiting?
Stop the tape. It's almost as if Hank Aaron can read a calendar, isn't it, Bob? You don't suppose that perhaps Aaron timed his racist broadside against half the country to coincide with Jackie Robinson Day, do you? Just maybe?
Nightengale noted that the new hate mail messages came as baseball was celebrating Jackie Robinson Day, April 15, on Tuesday.
One bigoted writer named Edward wrote an email to the Braves' front office with several expletives and racial slurs contained it, according to the Washington Post.
Quote the "racial slurs," then. And if they actually were racial slurs, then send congratulations to Hammering Hank, because he found one idiot, and that one had to be bellicosely provoked into it.
Another baseball fan named Marion called Aaron "a racist scumbag." Mark called Aaron a "classless racist" while a writer named David said he planned to burn Aaron's "I Had a Hammer: The Hank Aaron Story" autobiography.
I don't know about burning any books, but Marion's and Mark's appellations seem to fit pretty well.
Personally, I take Hank Aaron for a bitter, hateful old man who is a victim of the Left's grievance-mongering industry, brainwashed into believing that no matter how "just" society becomes, it will never be "just" by definition. The inescapable logic of this poisonous mindset is that blacks must, and therefore are entitled to, enslave whites for at least several centuries before the scales of history can truly be balanced. If and until blacks get what they're entitled to, they're also entitled to be the biggest racists, bigots, and haters on the planet, free of any and all accountability for their words and actions.
And in case you missed them over last weekend, Aaron's words were definitely in the "fighting" category:
The firestorm erupted after 80-year-old Aaron, the senior vice president of the Braves, said in an interview with USA Today that America today is "not that far removed" from the racial intolerance of the mid-20th century.
On the fortieth anniversary of his home-run record, he said, "Sure, this country has a black president, but when you look at a black president, President Obama is left with his foot stuck in the mud from all of the Republicans with the way he's treated. The bigger difference is that back then they had hoods. Now they have neckties and starched shirts."
IOW, nobody can oppose Barack Obama on anything for any reason or by definition it's due to racism. "Sure, this country has a black president," but that's not enough. It's not close to being enough. It isn't even the beginning of a start. We must have forty-three more black presidents, and never elect a white president again. And, you know, O has to sign the Enslavement Proclamation herding all white people onto solar panel and wind farm plantations until the dawn of the twenty-fourth century. After all, it's only fair.
You know what it really is? Sad. Pathetic. This is what racist animals like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Jeremiah Wright (remember him?), all their white lib accomplices, and, yes, Barack Hussein Obama [hmm-hmm-hmm] have done to people like Hank Aaron. Turn a rich baseball legend into a toxic bromide-muttering crank. Even his material is stale and tiresome - wasn't it Charlie Rangel who coined the "then they had hoods, now they wear suits with red ties" slur twenty years ago? And how is False Messiah "treated," Hank? Has he ever had to endure the crazed, vicious, maniacal onslaught of an unhinged disloyal opposition, as President Bush did for eight years, complete with assassination fantasies and art too numerous to fully mention, but including mock postage stamps showing him about to be shot through the head, off-Broadway plays depicting him getting shot through the head, and portraits of his severed head, complete with dripping blood and ganglia? Would you care to show us these things, Hank? Because I sure as hell can't find them. What I have no problem finding, Hank, is Barack Obama being endlessly feted, fellated, worshipped, and bowed down to like no president ever has been in American history, facing a decidedly loyal opposition which, for the most part, is terrified of him precisely for fear that they'll be smeared as "racists" if they simply tell the truth about who he really is, what he really believes, and what he's done to this country.
The only real knock that was ever put on Michael Jordan, and more recently Kobe Bryant, is that he didn't use his privileged position as a star professional athlete to "fight for his race," or whatever. But perhaps MJ was enlightened enough to realize that, because of pioneers like Jackie Robinson and Hank Aaron, but also because this was America, where a whole lotta white people bought his merchandise and cheered for him and thought he was cool, he was able to achieve all that he did. Maybe those pioneers earned MJ the luxury of living as an American, hyphen-free.
Even if it was a deathbed conversion, it'd be nice if Hank Aaron could come to that same enlightened realization.
