Interesting it is how Vladimir Putin is doing essentially the same thing to us - thumping us in the chest harder and longer and louder to see if there's any provocation that will finally elicit a sharp response - as Red Barry's Bureau of Land Management was doing to Clive Bundy and his brave Tea Party supporters over the weekend - indeed, almost simultaneously:
A Russian fighter aircraft made repeated low-altitude, close-range passes near a U.S. ship in the Black Sea over the weekend, the Pentagon said on Monday, condemning the action at a time of heightened U.S.-Russian tensions over Ukraine. Now before anybody asks, no, I don't think O should have declared DefCon One over this. But it does seem pretty clear that Vlad is sending a message to us - get out of the Black Sea - and doesn't think he has to do any more than buzz one of our few remaining warships to force our compliance.
The USS Donald Cook hasn't fled to the Med, at least not yet, but it did retreat to a Romanian port. In the mean time, this was the Obama Regime's tough-as-nails verbal response:
"This provocative and unprofessional Russian action is inconsistent with their national protocols and previous agreements on the professional interaction between our militaries," said Colonel Steve Warren, a Pentagon spokesman. "We've seen the Russians conduct themselves unprofessionally and in violation of international norms in Ukraine now for several months," he said.....
"These continued acts of provocations and unprofessionalism do nothing to de-escalate the situation in Ukraine."Wow. The Obamagon's answer to Jay Carney called the Russians "unprofessional". Bet THAT blew their ears back back in Moscow. Vlad is probably quaking so much in his boots that he'll send a whole squadron to buzz the Donald Cook next time. And his Fencers might be "accidentally" armed, too.
Perhaps this is why the Russians are attempting to "show us to the door":
The provocative move came as pro-Russian separatists on Monday ignored an ultimatum to leave occupied government buildings in eastern Ukraine while another group of rebels attacked a police headquarters as a threatened military offensive by government forces failed to materialize.
Rebels in the town of Slaviansk, which was expected on Monday to be the focus of a broad government "anti-terrorist" operation involving the army, issued a bold call for Russian President Vladimir Putin to help them...
Pro-Russian secessionists want referendums to be held, but only in their regions in the east, which Kiev says is illegal.
The uprising by armed men in uniform who have seized buildings in towns across eastern Ukraine began eight days ago and has accelerated in the past 48 hours, with separatists seizing ever more buildings on behalf of a self-proclaimed independent "People's Republic of Donetsk".
Kiev says the separatists are organized by Moscow and include Russian troops in their midst, openly seeking to repeat the seizure of the Crimea region, which Moscow occupied and annexed last month.
Russia says the armed men are all locals acting on their own but it retains the right to intervene to protect them. NATO says Russia has tens of thousands of troops massed on the frontier.
The Sudetenland-Czechoslovakia 1938 / Poland 1939 / Georgia 2008 template couldn't be more obvious if Putin used something of his that we no longer have - a space program - to tattoo it in large font print on the face of the Moon. The "pro-Russian secessionists" are provoking the Ukrainian government response that Kiev knows will trigger the Russian invasion but which they'll have no choice but to offer up anyway. It's all unfolding like clockwork according to plan, a plan that could easily have been deterred or disrupted if Barack Obama had any interest doing anything other than demolishing American power on the world stage. So no moving of other "chess pieces" elsewhere to give Vlad something to think about, no emergency liquefied natural gas exports to Europe to lessen his leverage over the EU. Not even another "red line" blusterfest that everybody knows would be a most unfunny joke.
Just crickets.
And so eastern Ukraine will fall, and then the rest of Ukraine, and then the Baltic States will be next.
Just like clockwork.
Almost makes you wonder of the two commie dictators are in cahoots on this, doesn't it?
