GM Lives. . . Sort of

Scandals are piling up.  Fast and Furious gun running operation giving American firearms to Mexican Drug Cartels by the Obama administration in the hopes of blaming American guns for gun deaths in Mexico.  Election Fraud where one woman was found guilty of voting for Obama six times, and then Obama's Justice Department refused to charge her.  Benghazi terrorist attack that left four Americans dead after Obama's team denied the consulate additional security when they requested it, and denied the men on the ground additional backup as they were being slaughtered by Islamic jihadists, and lied about numerous aspects of the event - a massive cover-up all to protect Obama, and his "Islam loves us now" narrative.  Unemployment numbers manipulation, where the people out of work has gone up, the labor force participation rate has 92 million people out of the workforce, but the unemployment rate has gone down.  Veterans Affairs, where veterans have been dying while waiting for care.  Changing how inflation is calculated, claiming the rate is 2%, when reality dictates otherwise.  The IRS is still being used to punish Obama's enemies.

Remember the campaign cry?  Bin Ladin is dead, GM lives.

General Motors has seemed to be the only bright light in an otherwise disastrous Barack Obama presidency.

Not so fast.

The liberal left democrats will tell you that the Obama administration saved the automobile industry when the federal government unconstitutionally made itself part owner of the corporation.

GM is as good as new, we are being told.  GM has exceeded Obama's expectations.

Except that GM has been flirting with leaving the United States, and has been the subject of a nasty line of recalls.

Recalls?  Nobody is talking about any recalls.

Ahhh, General Motors.  Good ol' American made vehicles with foreign connections.  The federal government has a hand in GM.  The United Auto Workers has a hand in GM.  But "GM's alive and bin Laden's dead."

So if GM is doing so well, then why have they recalled more vehicles than have rolled off of the assembly line?

Everyone was praising GM.  The last five years seemed to be going well. . . until the substandard products began revealing themselves for what they really were.

Last February, the bottom fell out.  Nearly 800,000 cars were recalled due to an ignition switch problem.  Then, it got worse.  Worldwide, 2.6 million cars were recalled, and the faulty ignition switch has led to at least 13 deaths.  Worse, yet, they knew about it for over a decade.

Talk about a delay in doing what's right.

Okay, fine, an old problem has surfaced.  Not Obama's fault, right?

The ignition switch was just the beginning.  Now, so far this year, there have been 29 recalls, covering 13.8 million U.S. cars and trucks, and 15.8 million vehicles worldwide.

A part of it is GM now has stricter standards, and when you ask for more quality, less-than-acceptable quality is often revealed.

With all of the recalls, the repair costs wiped out the profits the Obama administration was boasting about.

So what's the big deal?

The company did not go through the proper process.  A faulty company was bailed out, and the same faulty company then demanded more from itself with stricter standards.  However, the poor production will remain, because nothing really changed.  Failed companies cause changes, or a removal of failed companies from the market.  That is how the market stays strong.  The weak are removed, and better, more innovative competitors fill the void.

For General Motors, the recalls are only just beginning. . . and like with everything else, Obama's hands are kept clean by the media.
