How do you say "John Kerry in white robes" in Latin?:
Pope Francis took a dramatic plunge Sunday into Mideast politics while on his Holy Land pilgrimage, receiving an acceptance from the Israeli and Palestinian presidents to visit him at the Vatican next month to discuss embattled peace efforts.
Francis also buoyed Palestinian hopes by openly endorsing “the State of Palestine.” At his Regina Coeli address in Bethlehem’s Manger Square, he said, “All of us – especially those placed at the service of their respective peoples – have the duty to become instruments and artisans of peace, especially by our prayers.”
Perhaps, your Popeiness. But shouldn't the Pals actually practice that peace by ceasing their unrelenting intransigence in these endless negotiations, their vicious anti-Semitism in public statements and their educational system, and their ceaseless cross-border artillery attacks against Israeli cities from the Gaza Strip, and do so for a really long time, before you give their "hopes" any "buoying"?
Francis landed in Bethlehem, the cradle of Christianity, in a symbolic nod to Palestinian aspirations for their own state. He called the stalemate in peace talks "unacceptable" and stopped briefly to pray at the Israeli separation barrier surrounding this biblical West Bank town.
The stalemate springs from Palestinians' determination to eradicate Israel and Israel's disinclination to commit national suicide to curry the worthless favor of grandstanding leftwing hacks like Pope Francis. Consequently, if one truly desires a just and lasting peace, one cannot possibly find this stalemate "unacceptable".
Remember, by the by, why that Bethlehem barrier was built: to keep out Palestinian suicide bombers. And it's done its job well. Or is it "unacceptable" to prevent Jews from being blown up in pizza parlors, your Seaminess?
Does that sound harsh? Take a closer look at the setting of this "prayer for 'peace'":
Francis stood with his eyes closed in concentration. He pressed his forehead against the wall as well for a few moments, surrounded by graffiti including a "FREE PALESTINE" scrawled in red spray paint.
When he finished, Pope Francis slowly crossed himself, then walked away.
If anybody thinks that Francis didn't know precisely what he was doing and the image to the whole world he was creating, they're breaking the ninth commandment.
There's nothing official about this "summit," of course. Shimon Peres can't bind the Israeli government to any concessions he doubtless wants to offer up. But it's one more global institution getting in line to kick the Jewish State in the groin, to further discredit and demonize and isolate Israel as somehow being the cause of the "stalemate" in the Middle East "peace process".
I also can't help noticing the eschatological significance of a Roman Catholic leader "dramatically plunging into Mideast politics".
No, I'm not calling Pope Francis the Antichrist. But this may be the planting of a seed that Antichrist ultimately exploits one day. And that ought to give us an idea of just how close that day might really be.
