Scarborough: Left "Overreached" On Climate Change

by JASmius

Well, I guess we can see that this 'Pubbie is running for president in 2016 - and from which wing of the GOP he'll be doing it:

Though mankind may be contributing to climate change, the left overreached on the issue a decade ago, and Republicans aren't going to embrace policies that will kill jobs just because of "ideological rampages," MSNBC's "Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough said Monday.

Scarborough was responding to a statement by Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubio where he downplayed the role of modern-day activities on climate change. In an interview Sunday on ABC's "This Week," Rubio said he did not "believe that human activity is causing these dramatic changes to our climate the way these scientists are portraying it."

I 've already given Senator Rubio his reality check today; now it's Joe Scarborough's turn.

Okay, okay, he's already had a turn.  But that quote merits another whack, because of that infuriating "play both ends against the middle" RINO vacillation.  Marco Rubio is constitutionally ineligible for the presidency, and he may well be trying to go the "establishment" route by backing amnesty, but he's right on the money here.  Not only is mankind not contributing to climate change, but there is no way mankind could contribute to climate change short of an all-out nuclear holocaust.  A single decent-sized volcanic eruption - say, for example, Mt. Pinatubo - has a greater impact on global climate than modern human civilization could ever hope to simply be existing.  Or how about the big, blinding, yellowish-white, G-2 spectral class ball people see in the sky every day except where I live?  All Sol has to do is hiccup a tiny bit and the planet can quickly become a snowball, or be scoured of life altogether.  And we're to believe that SUVs have the same climatic impact?

Now, to be entirely fair, that isn't exactly what "Morning Joe" said; he said "may," not "is".  So we don't know for sure if he really believes that greenstremist nonsense or if he's just hedging his bets in order to keep one foot planted at MSNBCCCP.  But if the other foot is in the 2016 Republican presidential race - of which I'm still not convinced - and he's doing so purportedly as a disciple of Ronald Reagan, why would he concede the core absurdity of the global warming hoax?  It completely pre-empted everything else he said.  If you cave to the ludicrous notion that mankind's existence is "destroying the planet," how do you turn around and condemn the Left for "going too far" in wrecking the economy (except theirs, of course) in order to allegedly combat it?  There's no middle ground to this question.

What's more, trying to split the difference is really, really lousy politics.  Not only will you piss off the GOP base, but the Democrats will then flay you alive for agreeing with them that modern civilization is the harbinger of doom but refusing to do anything about it.  Yes, the Left has "overreached on climate change".  They've been doing so for over twenty years.  Congratulations for finally noticing it, Joe.  But the overreach begins with the initial premise.  If you concede that, you concede the whole issue.

That's one more reason I don't think Scarborough is going to run.  If he does, he's going to be one more aggravating pretender cluttering up the debate stages.  And with Rubio, Rand Paul, and Ted Cruz already providing more aggravating pretender clutter than I'm going to be able to stomach....

Please, Joe, stay on the Rachel Maddow Sexual Confusion channel.  My esophagus is begging you.  And so is the climate.
