In response to the terror attack against the international airport in Karachi, Pakistan, the Obama administration used U.S. drones to fire missiles at Taliban hideouts, killing at least ten militants. The White House states that Pakistani government officials gave the Americans "express approval" for the strikes.
Pakistani leadership publicly opposes U.S. drone strikes, while in private officials have admitted the government supports them.
The strikes were the first in Pakistan since an attack in December of 2013 which killed three suspected militants. Evidence reveals that some of the militants killed were members of the Afghan Taliban. The Afghan Taliban and Pakistani Taliban have joined forces, sharing the same Islamist ideology driven to impose Shariah.
