America Protests Against Illegal Immigration

By Douglas V. Gibbs

This afternoon I was asked by a correspondent for MSNBC what impact I believe the Murrieta protesters turning around buses full of illegal aliens (okay, fine, she said undocumented immigrants) had nationally.  I responded, that we were the flashpoint, and I hope we provided the precedent needed for other cities to do the same.  Word has it that the planes are no longer coming to California because of Murrieta, and now they are going to Louisiana.  "Now," I told MSNBC, "it is Louisiana's turn to stand up to the federal government on this issue."

The national response is more than I could have imagined.  Now, national protests are planned.  Places, dates and times are at the end of this article.

As I have explained from the very beginning, the immigration issue is not about immigration as much is it is about protecting the receiving population from a federal government that refuses to abide by the rule of law.  The immigration process is in place for a reason.  Immigration laws are there not to be racist, or discriminatory, but to protect the American population from those who would come into this country with criminal backgrounds, to establish terrorist cells, or are infected with contagious disease.  The legal immigration process includes health screening that is necessary to protect the receiving population from illnesses that have either been eradicated, or minimized, in our country.  Ellis Island was not just for administrative purposes, but to provide health screening for the incoming immigrants.  I love immigrants who want to come to America to take advantage of the opportunities this nation offers.  All we ask is that the legal process is followed in order to protect the receiving population.

The federal government is guilty of placing the American population at risk, as well as those trying to come to this nation.  In a sense, the Obama administration is guilty of child abuse, and human trafficking, because the White House refuses to secure the border, and because they are actually encouraging more people to come to this country illegally with liberal policies of refusing to enforce immigration laws on the books with their "catch and release" policies.  A third of the minor girls that make the trip from their home country to the American border are raped along the way.  Many of the boys are molested.  Those that do not suffer from disease contract diseases by traveling with contagious persons during the trip, and if they are not sick by the time they get here, they will be sick after being crammed into facilities not designed to handle such numbers with others that are sick.  Then, after being housed in facilities like the one in Murrieta, without a good sleep because there are no beds, without food, and without the chance to bathe, they are given a bus ticket, a slip of paper telling them to appear later at a facility for a hearing, and then released into the wild as homeless people.  How is that humane?  How is that, when it comes to the minors, not child abuse being perpetrated by the federal government?

Illegal immigration is more than an immigration issue.  It is a health and safety issue, it is a humanitarian issue, it is a national security issue, and it is a rule of law issue where the federal government is not only refusing to abide by the laws on the books, but is trying to force its will upon communities, whether the receiving population likes it or not.

The correspondents I have spoken to ask me about the negative attention Murrieta is getting regarding this issue.  One liberal columnist, Sally Kohn, has gone so far as to say that using the term "illegal immigrant" is the same as using the N-Word.  That is how they try to battle the issue, through emotion, and accusations of racism.  My response to all of that is that the facts regarding health and safety, the threats posed to the receiving population by criminals and terrorism, and the harm being done to the migrants who attempt the trek to the U.S. because the federal government refuses to secure the border, speaks for themselves, and those providing negative attention are not in the majority.  Not only does 82% of Americans believe we need to secure the national borders, but now other locations have been, thanks to Murrieta, encouraged to stand up to the federal government, to protest regarding this issue, and tell the federal government, "No, we will not be bullied by you."

In California, protests are emerging at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fontana, where 40 illegals were dropped off at the church because the clergy there said they were willing to take in these poor people, likely, some believe, because the leaders of the church were either paid off, or threatened, by the federal government.  In the group of illegal aliens that arrived at the church in Fonatana was an infant so sick the child needed to be rushed to the hospital.  According to some reports, the church in Fontana is not the only one the Department of Homeland Security is using to conduct its assault on Southern California cities.

President Obama, dissatisfied with Murrieta refusing to bow down obediently to his will, and Congress refusing to provide legislation to his satisfaction regarding the immigration issue, has decided he will not be told what he can and can't do by We the People, or by our representation, and has announced that he will lawlessly use his executive power in an unconstitutional manner to forcefully implement his own, preferred immigration policies.  The President is working to pump more taxpayer money into providing amenities for these people, as veterans die in VA hospitals, and thousands of Americans suffer from unemployment due to the economic policies of this administration, without even a consideration of securing the border, or sending more personnel to the front lines.  According to Obama, Congress has "stubbornly" refused to act in line with his policies, and so he will put his plan into place without Congress, unconstitutionally.

Never mind that silly constitutional concept called "Separation of Powers," reinforced by Article I, Section 1, where the Constitution grants to the United States Congress "all" legislative powers.

Americans are not stupid.  We see what is going on.  We recognize that what we are really experiencing is a constitutional crisis being perpetrated by a lawless executive branch.

The reality is that the Democrats in Washington know this issue is about more than immigration, and the health and safety of the receiving population.  They know that they are going against the rule of law, and that this is all about the federal government forcing its will upon a locality.  That is the goal.  The immigration issue is a crisis, and as we have heard so many times before, the liberal left loves a good crisis, because it gives them the opportunity to advance their political agenda of bigger government.  The leftists in Washington, and that goes for the leftists in both parties, are perfectly fine with using the immigration crisis to advance their political agenda.  They are perfectly willing to use these poor people coming to America as cattle for the purpose of advancing their political agenda.

We must also recognize that on top of all of that, the failure to secure the border by the federal government is also a national security issue.  In late June a Mexican military helicopter traveled across the border and fired upon Border Patrol agents.  In addition to that, unofficial sources told me a decade ago that one in three illegals crossing into the United States at the San Ysidro crossing are of Middle Eastern or North African descent, and now that number, I am told, has reached 40%.  With radical Islamist groups like ISIS, who is currently slicing across the Middle East saying they desire a direct confrontation with the United States, it stands to reason that these terrorists are taking advantage of our porous southern border.

The revolution is spreading.

In Maryland, protest threats from local elected officials and residents forced the federal government to cancel its plans to send illegal immigrant children to an Army Reserve center near Baltimore.

In Arizona protesters plan to organize tomorrow in the city of Oracle to try to prevent the federal government from dumping illegal immigrants in their blue-collar community.

The Arizona Militia has joined deployed armed agents from Texas to confront the "Texas Border Surge."

Then, in the biggest show of national unity on this issue, which I believe has been encouraged by Murrieta being willing to stand up to the federal government on the immigration issue, is a Friday and Saturday series of national protests.  According to "Americans for Legal Immigration PAC", over 170 locations are joining the national protest.
