Or else what, ladies and gents?:
Representative Darrell Issa and 32 other Republican House members sent a letter to President Barack Obama demanding he stop illegal immigration at the border now and to make clear that such migrants would be returned to their countries of origin.
"As our country faces an unprecedented surge in the arrival of unaccompanied alien children at our southwestern border, we call on you to immediately end the failed policies that encourage young individuals to put themselves in peril, leave their home countries, and make a long and dangerous journey to enter our country illegally," the Republicans said in their letter.
"As Congress considers legislative proposals to ensure our system is reserved for deserving applicants, we urge you to cooperate with congressional leaders to provide accurate data on the recent surge and work for legislative reforms that ensure the safe repatriation of these minor children to family members in their home countries and provide the commitment necessary to secure our border."
A few observations, my fellow Republicans:
1) To Barack Obama, "policies that encourage young individuals to put themselves in peril, leave their home countries, and make a long and dangerous journey to enter our country illegally" are not "failed," they're wildly successful. Those lice-ridden tykes are here for one reason, and one reason only: to vote for Democrats for as long as they can be kept alive. And when they've assumed room temperature, there'll always be another shipment.
2) Let me translate that second paragraph above: "As Congress rightly refuses to consider the legislative proposal you want, we urge you to cooperate with congressional leaders to provide data on the recent surge you want suppressed and work for legislative reforms you will veto and provide the commitment necessary to secure our border that you will never give us."
Did I leave anything out? And did I mention that this letter has already gone through the White House shredder? Is this a feeble gesture or is there a next step beyond it? Which will be just as feeble, but the constitutional process must be exhausted before more "muscular" measures are considered.
Meanwhile, the biological war continues to escalate:
U.S. Border Patrol agents in Texas have discovered four cases of the H1N1 flu strain [Swine influenza] among illegal immigrant children held at two detention centers in Brownsville in the past two days, National Border Patrol Council Vice President Chris Cabrera told Newsmax on Saturday.
Medical personnel at each of the centers, the Brownsville and Fort Brown Border Patrol stations, confirmed one case each on Friday and Saturday, he said. The minors are 10 to 12 years old.
"Everybody's who been in contact with them now is suspect that they have gotten it," Cabrera said in an interview. "That's what we're dealing with now."
As many as 120 people have been isolated at the two centers after being exposed to the minors, he said. Medical professionals at the detention centers screen illegals for lice, scabies, and chicken pox — but not everyone receives medical clearance, he said.
"We’ve had to quarantine the area and everybody who came in contact with them," he added. Border Patrol officials have also notified federal health officials of the situation — and agents will have to be vaccinated as a precaution.
"The flu can be dangerous, and swine flu even more so," he said. "We're still crowded. We're still overcrowded."
At least one other case of H1N1 flu has been confirmed at the Lackland Air Force Base detention center in San Antonio, according to KGBT-TV news. [emphasis added]
"Captain Oinks" has arrived, my fellow Americans. Is it weaponized? Genetically engineered for maximum lethality and communicability? We don't know. Which is kind of the problem. Would it be here now if not for Barack Obama's "failed" border-erasure policies? Not a chance. Which is precisely the problem.
Incidentally, if you're thinking that hospitals should be taking up the slack in this tsunami of illegal humanity, think again:
The ongoing crush of children illegally entering the United States has sparked a major health crisis at hospitals along the nation's border, Ron Paul, a former Texas congressman and Republican presidential candidate, tells Newsmax TV.
"Our hospitals have already been under siege by immigrants,'' Paul, an obstetrician, said Wednesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show.''
"And with these thousands, tens of thousands, who knows how many [children] . . . you're going to see some very serious health problems . . . We've already overburdened many hospitals.
"In the 19th century, when we had a massive influx of immigrants, we were still cautious about diseases . . . Today, under these conditions, it just is essentially impossible to do this.''
And remember: The illegals will have triage priority over American citizens. So the prudent course of action for American citizens, extrapolating White House reasoning, would be to stay home and not go outside. Or, essentially, to quarantine - or imprison - themselves. Which would shut down at least the local economy while the invaders were roaming around, free. Sounds like an episode of The Walking Dead, doesn't it?
On the gag order front, it appears to be particularly aimed at GOP legislators:
Oklahoma Congressman Jim Bridenstine sent out a blistering news release after a security guard denied him access the previous day to a detention center holding 1,200 illegal minors at the Fort Sill Army Base in the Sooner State. No, they don't, Representative Bridenstine. The White House most definitely does not want it to become public knowledge that they are facilitating a passive invasion of our country designed to collapse our tottering economy, cull the conservative American population, and install Barack Obama and the Democrat Party in power forever - a coup de tat three-fer for the ages. I hope you're a regular reader of Political Pistachio, sir, or you'll continue to languish in the darkness of deliberately targeted ignorance.
Bridenstine said the guard told him that he would have to schedule a visit through HHS for July 21....
"What are they trying to hide?" Bridenstine charged in the news release from his office. "Do they not want the children to speak with members of Congress?
Chris Cabrera gets the final word:
Cabrera told Newsmax that as many as 2,000 illegals had been arrested by his agents in the previous 24 hours alone. "It would be safe to say that it's in the 2,000 range. That would be my best guess. It's a never-ending flow."
But now, many illegals are just turning themselves in, he said.
"We're having groups of 50 to 100 turning themselves in. Couple times a day, they're just walking up. Not 50 to 100 throughout the day at one station; we're having — in a 20-minute span — 50 people walking up from the river and turn themselves in.
"It's counted as an apprehension — but in actuality, they're catching us, we're not catching them."
These include thousands of illegal minors — forcing already-strapped U.S. agents to now deal with "disease and viruses" and child-care duties, he said.
When asked to describe the current situation in his region, Cabrera responded, chuckling, "I don't know a clean word for it."
