First, the hackers got into the private data of a bunch of celebrities. . . of which I really didn't care because I am not a big fan of the entertainment industry, anyway.
But now, they've hacked into credit card information at Home Depot.
Okay, folks, now it's serious.
The hacking by hackers is nothing new. But in this age of what we think is heightened security, it is of great concern. . . not just because of how easily these people are accessing our personal data, but because the government has been accused of getting into our personal data, too. And if it is this easy for hackers, God knows what the government is up to.
Even more so than that is the fact that through Obamacare the government wants everyone's private information stored in one location. . . even after they couldn't even get the Obamacare website to work right. Once the federal government has everyone's data in one location, it'll be like Christmas for hackers, and identity thieves.
So, here's what happened: Home Depot suffered a massive credit breach, an event that follows Target's last March. In the case of Home Depot, the company confirmed the breach today, after a website reported that a large cache of stolen data had appeared on black market sites. The breach may go as far back as last Spring, and may be much larger than Target's breach, which affected tens of millions of customers.
If the media discovers the owner of Home Depot is a conservative, that may add an even newer spin to the story.
