Morici: GOP Congress Must Defend Economic Freedom Against Obama's Tyranny

by JASmius

Didn't I just get through having this conversation with Larry Kudlow?:

With control of Congress, Republicans could push to lower taxes and repeal the Affordable Care Act, but President Obama has the veto. Instead, a new GOP majority could launch an all-out assault on federal abuses of regulatory powers to defend economic freedom and restore prosperity.

Why, yes I did.

Well, the economic history lesson was appreciated, Pete; not for our benefit, since we already knew all this, but for the constant influx of new listeners/readers/students, for and to whom the truth cannot be repeated too often or too loudly.

Concluding with this peroration:

A GOP Congress might not be able to roll back Obama's executive orders, but it could initiate a broadside of hearings to cast sunshine on these follies, and cut the budgets of the agencies prosecuting this tyranny.

Because there's nothing congressional Republicans do quite as ineffectively as "casting sunshine" on Democrat administrations via "broadsides" of hearings, and approach quite so trepidatiously cutting budgets in the face of Democrat/media demagoguery.

As I counseled Mr. Kudlow, so I will tell you, Mr. Morici: I agree with the sentiment, but strongly urge you to govern your expectations.  Because if you truly expect any of your recommendations to manifest in reality, you're going to be sorely disappointed.
