Pardon the redundancy:
Last Tuesday’s Lake Worth city commission meeting started as they all do. Then things changed.
As atheist Preston Smith approached the podium to lead the prayer – Mayor Pam Triolo and three city commissioners left the chambers. ……..
Can't say I blame them.
The mayor offered no explanation until today. “I didn’t leave because Mr. Smith is an atheist, I left because of his alleged tweet.” Mayor Triolo said. Triolo says Smith tweeted an offensive interpretation of scripture earlier this summer.
That would be this Christ-mocking tweet:
This Scriptural passage states:
If a man finds a girl who is a virgin, who is not engaged, and seizes her and lies with her and they are discovered, then the man who lay with her shall give to the girl’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall become his wife because he has violated her; he cannot divorce her all his days.
This is an anti-rape - and, more to the point, an anti-fornication - admonition. In contemporary parlance, "There shalt not be any such thing for you as free poontang." It also presupposes that fathers keep close watch over their daughters to prevent just such outcomes, with which I would think feminists would have a serious problem - you know, "patriarchal oppression" of women's "sexual freedom," and all that. Or, in other words, another leftwing one-way street; women are free to slut around to their hearts' content, and encourage male horndogs accordingly to disregard propriety and respect for female virtue, until women decide to close their legs, and then it's ex post facto "rape".
Bottom line: Deuteronomy 22:28-29 is a deterrent to sexual predators - including, apparently, Mr. Smith - the last thing for which they are looking is consequences from, and having to take responsibility for, their sexual appetites.
But atheists aren't interested in biblical exegesis; they're only interested in mocking and persecuting Christians, as Mayor Triolo suspected would be the case when Mr. Smith showed up at this City Council meeting:
She feared his prayer might be along those lines – so she left before he started.
“Free speech works both ways,” Triolo said. “You can say what you want and I can choose to leave.” ……
C'mon, Madame Mayor, you aren't really that naïve, are you? Free speech is as much a one-way street as any other to the Left. Just ask your colleague:
One commissioner did stay during the invocation. Commissioner Christopher McVoy says he had no idea the other elected officials were going to be leaving, but it bothers him they did leave.
Walking out was “very un-American, and a slap in the face to the principles people fought very hard to make sure we had those rights,” he said.
Smith said over the phone that he thinks it was an act of pure discrimination against his beliefs.
"Very un-American"? "An act of pure discrimination"? Excuse me, Mr. Smith, but did you get "escorted" out of that City Council meeting using your nose as a brake? Were you not in fact allowed to revise, extend, and double-down on your anti-Christian mockery?
And, might I add, do you think for one single, solitary moment that you would have been allowed to mock "Allah" or the Muslim faith? But then you don't really have a problem with Muslims, do you, Mr. Smith? Indeed, by your own admission, your only point was to try and do away with "prayer at City Hall" - unless it was to
Once again, "non-Christians'" sensibilities are sacred, while Christian sensibilities are open season and fair game. We are not just required to tolerate blasphemous mockery, but must now sit there and take it right to our faces as well, or the anti-Christian mockers will be "victimized" by our declination to be pissed and shat upon.
By contrast, get a load of the murderous extent to which Muslim sensibilities are now to be preserved, protected, and defended:
Dead body in the trunk of your car? It’s OK, if you are Muslim.
What would happen to [anybody else] if they were pulled over by the police for a traffic offense and in the course of the traffic stop, they announced there was a dead body in the trunk of the car?....
This happened in Millersville, Tennessee, on December 9th. Millersville is a small town just north of Nashville. On Wednesday, a Millersville police officer stopped a vehicle on Interstate 65. The driver presented the officer a Saudi Arabian driver’s license. Shockingly enough, a Saudi driver’s license is valid in Tennessee.
Then the driver told the officer his child was dead in the trunk, and he wanted to go bury the child in accordance with his Muslim religion.
What happened next is absolutely shocking.
Actually, it's not shocking at all - it merely should be.
The officer asked to see the child and the driver refused because it was “against his religion.” The police officer then let the driver go and reported the event to his superiors.
Can anyone imagine the scenario if the driver of the car had presented a Tennessee driver’s license, announced there was a dead child in the trunk and told the officer he could not look in the trunk because it violated his beliefs as a Baptist?
The car disappeared. Police are looking for it and the driver.
There's a surprise.
Quite a contrast, isn't it? Christians are ridiculed, smeared, and vilified with impunity, but "non-Christians" are venerated and sanctified. And, in fact, the latter now requires the former.
It's insanity, it's genuine injustice, it's anything but "diversity" and/or "tolerance". But most of all, it is Western cultural suicide that such things are tolerated - in the name of "tolerance," no less.
Here is a pristinely reasonable, rational, logical message of "fairness" to "non-Christians": We will tolerate you exactly as far as you tolerate us. Beyond that, expect hardcore pushback.
You wouldn't respect anything less - would you?
