Man In Trenchcoat Wounds Five In Washington, DC Restaurant

At least two of the victims were seriously injured, but all are expected to survive the attack, which took place about 12:30 a.m. inside McFadden’s Restaurant and Saloon at 2401 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, said Officer Hugh Carew, a D.C. police spokesman.

Police issued a lookout for a black man of medium height, wearing a trench coat, plaid shirt and black or blue jeans.

The assailant eluded a police search and was last seen heading east on Pennsylvania Avenue, GWU police said in a campus safety alert issued about 2:30 a.m.

McFadden’s, a popular nightspot whose Web site calls it “DC’s Best Party Bar,” was closed during its regular lunch and dinner hours Saturday. As night fell, the only commotion came from a local television news crew.

Is the fact that the attacker was a black man relevant?  That would seem to depend upon the particular "ethnic persuasions" of his five victims, and whether any of them were off-duty and/or plainclothes police officers, neither of which the WaPo report discloses.  Further bulletins on that as they become available.

Which leaves us with the weapon angle.  If this same assailant had burst into McFadden's with an Uzi and started firing away, Dianne Feinstein would have twanged another hamstring flying to the nearest camera and microphone to renew her incessant demands for a blanket gun control crackdown.  Instead, this guy used a dagger.  Does that diminish his violent, murderous attack?  Should it not, by the same liberal "logic," make "knife control" a co-equal leftwingnut cause?  And will "baseball bat control" and "lead pipe control" and "fist control" and "foot in your ass control" not deservedly be next in line?  Or is this Jason-esque multiple slashing simply not as politically useful - yet?

Because one thing we can know for sure is that libs will never, under any circumstances, attribute evil to people over inanimate objects for anything other than cynical, dishonest, tribalistic, partisan political purposes.

Exit question: Since the d'k tagh-wielding attacker got away, when and where will he strike next?  And if he is lashing out like this in self-styled revenge for Mike Brown and Eric Garner and Donte Hamilton, how long can the WaPo embargo that explosive story detail?
