And now, the Church and parents "officially" work for the White House as well:
Barack Obama is calling for an end to psychiatric therapy treatments aimed at changing the sexual orientation or gender identity of gay, lesbian and transgender youth.
What ever happened to "do no harm," Barry?
The move comes in response to an online petition posted on the White House website following the death of 17-year-old Leelah Alcorn. The transgender teen committed suicide in December and left behind a note saying her parents had forced her to attend so-called conversion therapy.
I tend to think HE took HIS own life for reasons having nothing to do with HIS parents' attempt to get HIM the help HE needed. Though if the note is anywhere near accurate - a highly dubious assumption given LGBT Christophobic prejudices and militancy - it sounds like they ought to have at least attempted more persuasion, as it's difficult to see how coerced psychiatric treatment would be very effective.
But even if it's true, this is the exception that proves the rule about homosexual conversion therapy, no matter what The Troll says:
In a statement late Wednesday, White House senior adviser Valerie Jarrett said the administration supports banning the practice for minors.
"We share your concern about its potentially devastating effects on the lives of transgender as well as gay, lesbian, bisexual and queer youth," Jarrett said. "The overwhelming scientific evidence demonstrates that conversion therapy, especially when it is practiced on young people, is neither medically nor ethically appropriate and can cause substantial harm."
Sure, Val. Tell that to Joe Dallas and the thousands of cured ex-homosexuals that have been delivered from that "lifestyle" lie. Yours is yet another attempt to smear and demonize Christians, make "victims" of our homosexual victimizers, and finish the undermining of parental authority by your boss's state. Of that there really is "overwhelming scientific evidence".
Exit questions: (1) Is O going to bother with the pretense of going to Congress for conversion therapy legislation (which is SUCH a national priority) or has he already signed the Executive Order? And (2) isn't it striking that the Left isn't framing this issue as one of "choice"? It's almost as if they fear that most homosexuals and trannies would choose to "convert".
