Busho Hillaryo De Mayo

by JASmius

Does anybody else find these two stories as overwhelmingly depressing as I do?

Oh, don't worry, neither is very voluminous.

First, this bit of tiresome Bush III Hispanic pandering:

Jeb's wife Columba was born in Mexico, thus giving his family “strong ties” to the country.  Which would be relevant if he was challenging Enrique Peña Nieto, but not so much given that he's seeking the American presidency.  Besides which, I know a guy whose wife was born in Mexico, and both he and she are patriotic Americans who loathe illegal immigration - not illegal immigrants - and want the damn border closed.  So your mileage may vary, American voters.

Meanwhile, the imaginary Democrat "front-runner," who manages to make even her genuine expressions of heartfelt leftwingnuttery sound phonier than making change for a seven, would not be out-pandered, even though the Immigration Proclamation preempted her amnesty endorsement by a full six months:

In what will be her most comprehensive comments on immigration reform as a presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton will use a roundtable on Tuesday in Nevada to argue that the only "true solution" for reform is "nothing less than a full and equal path to citizenship."...

A number of Clinton's campaign aides feel immigration will be a wedge issue in the 2016 general election and are encouraged by the fact that Clinton has performed better than most Democrats -- including Barack Obama in 2008 -- with Hispanic voters.

Now do you see why this battleaxe has as much chance of getting elected POTUS as Baron Wolfgang von Strucker?  Immigration will be a wedge issue in 2016, alright - exactly as it was in 2014, when four-fifths of exit-polled voters declared their vehement opposition to illegal immigration and demands to close the border.  And she thinks pushing amnesty will help her chances.

But then, so does Jeb Bush.

Suffice it to say, folks, that if we can't do any better than a third Bush-Clinton contest (counting Al Gore as Mr. Bill's surrogate in 2000) in a generation, the Old American Republic deserves to stay six feet under.
