UVa Dean Sues Rolling Stone, Sabrina Rubin Erdely For Defamation

by JASmius

Frankly, I don't know what Nicole Eramo has been waiting for:

A University of Virginia associate dean of students filed a multimillion-dollar defamation lawsuit against Rolling Stone magazine Tuesday, alleging that it portrayed her as callous and indifferent to allegations of sexual assault on campus and made her the university’s “chief villain” in a now-debunked article about a fraternity gang rape.

Nicole Eramo is seeking more than $7.5 million in damages from Rolling Stone; its parent company, Wenner Media; and Sabrina Rubin Erdely, the professional character assassin "investigative journalist" who wrote the explosive account of sexual assault on the campus in Charlottesville. …

“Erdely and Rolling Stone’s epic failure of journalism was the result of biased, agenda-driven reporting,” the lawsuit says. The suit claims that the magazine’s account represented “a purposeful avoidance of the truth, and an utter failure to investigate the accuracy of Jackie’s claims.”

The magazine also printed a photo illustration of Eramo that she argues is inflammatory; the lawsuit says that the magazine turned a mundane Cavalier Daily student newspaper photo of her addressing a classroom and turned it into a wild-eyed image of her sitting in an office and giving a thumbs-up in front of a distraught sexual assault victim as protesters hold signs outside. The lawsuit claims the doctored image “demonstrates the lengths Erdely and Rolling Stone were willing to go to portray Dean Eramo as a villain.”

Correction: the lengths to which Miss Erdely and Rolling Stone had to go to portray Dean Eramo, and everybody else libeled in that "article," as a villain.  This was, in point of fact, always going to happen sooner or later.  It's the inevitable result of a leftwingnut morally supremacist cause that has gone defunct.  Women in 2015 have equality of opportunity with men - heck, the case can be easily made that women have attained superiority over men in many different aspects of American life.  So what does feminism do when it no longer has any cause to push or purpose to serve?  It makes up fictional issues (like "rape culture") and smears innocent people (like Nicole Eramo) as its purveyors and enablers.  Because the Cause, the Agenda, the Narrative cannot die, because without it, how would shlock publications like Rolling Stone stay in business and "investigative journalists" like Sandra Erdely stay employed?

That, of course, suggests what the ultimate outcome of this suit will be: a settlement out of court which will include Miss Erdely's pink slip.  But then vampiric scribes like her will always find a new billet.  Because while individual publications may, at times, need to throw individual writers under the proverbial bus, the overall Cause always takes care of its own.

And if all else fails, she can go to some college campus at random, get drunk, get laid, claim she was "raped," and then write a fresh, freelance "rape culture" expose under a pseudonym.  If it worked (for a while) once, there's no reason it can't work again.
