Jim Gilmore (?) Running For President

by JASmius

Not why, in this case - every other Republican except Peter King is running for president, so the former Virginia governor must have slept through his alarm or something - but....who?  Who the hell is Jim Gilmore (besides a former governor of Virginia)?  What does he bring to the table that EVERY OTHER GOP GOVERNOR IN THE RACE doesn't?  Where's the "Draft Jim Gilmore!" movement, the mobs, the clubs, the acclaimatous public clamor for the POTUS America just has to have?!?

I've pretty much exhausted my mine of ridicule to hurl at this subject, and it's not like the GOP is listening to me anyway, so I'll give the peroration to Jim Geraghty:

I realize I’m going to be accused of being some sort of cocktail-party-attending inside-the-Beltway elitist for suggesting that we don’t need additions to the current [161,013]-member GOP field. (Quick, can you name them all? Bush, Carson, Christie, Cruz, Fiorina, Graham, Huckabee, Jindal, Pataki, Paul, Perry, Rubio, Santorum, Trump; Walker and Kasich will make it official soon.) But no. A bunch of these guys have been pretty much absent from the national debate for most of the Obama administration. If your last major accomplishment in the political or policy realm occurred before the iPhone debuted, you’re past your sell-by date, and precisely the wrong contrast with the mostly-geriatric Democrat field.

Okay, I've got one more: If you create a big enough pile of chaff, you may not find the kernel of wheat until it's too late.

And maybe not at all.

Exit thought: Seriously, Jim f'ing Gilmore?
