On Friday, a gunman entered a federal building, shot and killed a security guard, and then turned the gun on himself and dropped dead from a self-inflicted wound. The liberal left media was careful to point out that the shooter was a military veteran that had collected Veteran's Affairs benefits, a group of people the federal government has been working on confiscating the firearms of, with the excuse that military service creates a mental disability in these persons.
The building houses an immigration court, a passport processing center and a regional office for the Department of Labor, in Manhattan at New York City. The shooter, identified as Kevin Downing, was a former federal employee at the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The motive, or intended target, according to federal officials, remains unknown.
The security guard killed was a contractor for the federal government, and described as well-trained, but never had a chance to respond.

The building, after the shooting, was placed on lockdown and was evacuated. It is this writer's opinion that the liberal left will try to use this shooting as confirmation that they need to disarm military veterans.
