The gentle giant that was really a violent young man, Michael Brown, was being remembered a year after his death after he wrestled with police in Ferguson, Missouri. To remind us how peaceful the local population is, gunshots rang out, and some of the gunfire was directed at police near where demonstrators gathered.
According to police, the shooter was among a group of suspected looters who later got into a gun battle with another person and possibly others.
“They were criminals, they weren’t protesters,” the chief said. “Protesters are out there talking about a way to affect change, whatever that may be.”
A year ago the protesters became rioters, and burned Ferguson to ashes. Criminals, opportunists, whatever they are, and were, it isn't good for Ferguson.
Undercover officers tracked this year's shooter, following him to a vacant lot behind some businesses, where he turned and fired on their unmarked police car with a stolen 9mm handgun.
All four officers from the car returned fire.

For daring to try and defend themselves, the officers have all been placed on routine administrative leave.
The burst of gunshots erupted as other officers were seeking to disperse a crowd of several hundred demonstrators who began blocking traffic along a main Ferguson thoroughfare. A news crew captured the chaos.
The gunfire was estimated to include 40 to 50 shots, largely fired between the rival groups who shot at one another before the one man turned on police.
A man was shot, and a man nearby said, “They killed my brother.”

Despite the shooting, police and protesters continued to square off into the wee hours on Monday. When demonstrators refused to disperse, law enforcement reverted to tactics from last year’s unrest, including smoke and gas grenades.
