By Douglas V. Gibbs
Through the limiting principles of the U.S. Constitution, the Founding Fathers were telling us that it is not the government's responsibility to take care of us, or protect us from ourselves. As Thomas Jefferson famously said, "I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it." Thomas Jefferson believed in the merits of hard work and the belief that we are the ones that are most responsible for our own lives and not a government forcing others to take responsibility for us.
