A black gunman shot a white reporter and a white cameraman, while the camera was rolling. Was it considered to be a crime driven by racism?
Of course not.
Had the shooter been white, and the victims black...
You betcha.
Anytime a gun goes off in the United States, and the media gets a hold of it, it becomes politicized. "Gun Control" shouts the liberal left Democrats, every time.
Why would you want to take the guns away from legal gun owners that follow the law because there are a few nuts out there? Do we yank everyone's driver's license because there's a few drunks on the road?
But wait. The shooter is a reporter, too. Disgruntled employee. But, being disgruntled doesn't have anything to do with it. It's all the gun's fault! It always is.
And here is what is even more interesting. When a black individual shoots a white, the media never reports it. It doesn't fit the liberal left narrative. They have more trouble politicizing such an event because it doesn't fit into their narrative. Black shot by a white? It gets reported, dragged down the street, and shoved down our throats.
But this time, even though it was a black shooting a couple of whites, the media were "forced" to report it. Everyone saw it happen. It happened on the air, while the news camera was rolling, while people were watching.
Can't hide from that, narrative, or not.
Another wrinkle is that the shooter recorded what he did, and posted it on social media before pulling over and shooting himself to death.
The media is not sure how to handle this story. A couple of their own mainstream media people were shot. One of their people was the shooter. And the shooter posted the happening on the media's competitor, social media.
A manifesto accompanied the shooting. The gunman was a journalist that went postal.
I am waiting for someone to echo O'Malley's now famous line, "All lives matter," and then see how many people get angry. . . because the narrative is that only Black Lives Matter.
One more thing. The shooter, Vester Flanagan, Bryce Williams, whatever we want to call him, filed a lawsuit against another television station that he used to work for. His claim? Racism.
