Russia & NATO On Collision Course?

by JASmius

I could also have gone with this cover pic....

....except for the white guy on the left side of the cover who looks a lot more like Arthur C. Clarke.

Interesting how this percolating global war in the making is high-rolling-boiling so stoutly under the media radar, isn't it?:

Both Russia and NATO are readying for possible war with military exercises that focus on the other side's perceived weaknesses, the [London] Telegraph reports.

The Telegraph quotes a report by the European Leadership Network think tank.

"We do not suggest that the leadership of either side has made a decision to go to war or that a military conflict between the two is inevitable, but that the changed profile of exercises is a fact and it does play a role in sustaining the current climate of tensions in Europe," the report's authors write.

It would be more accurate to say that Vladimir Putin has already made the decision to attack NATO and is full-bore preparing for that war, while NATO members other than the United States are belatedly awakening to the peril and their crippling weakness and making feeble gestures of resistance while Barack Obama is off on another shrimping vacation.

Interesting how the old Soviet Union WAS prepared for war with NATO but never got around to launching it, isn't it?  Almost as of having an American president had something to do with it.
