Socialism, utopianism, statism, or communism, whatever you want to call it, has emerged and destroyed civilizations many times in history. It is a parasite that kills its capitalistic host.
The Russian Revolution of 1917 and the French Revolution of 1789 were ignited by a powerful elite group of collectivists. The statists behind both revolutions were opportunists. They took advantage of existing oppression to establish greater oppression. They saw that the rich and powerful were wresting any hope for wealth from the lower classes through despotic means, and saw the answer as being a fair distribution of wealth to the people where nobody is allowed to have more than another, while squandering the majority of the wealth for themselves. And each time, the systems failed, and resulted in massive deaths.
It all comes down to individualism versus collectivism. Should production be left to a free market system where profit by individuals is the motivation, or should the government control the means of production in a collective "make it fair" manner? What does history say? Which system is the most productive, the most innovative, and the most prosperous?
What kind of economic system has created the prosperity of the Western Culture, and which one has led to starvation and death?
The communists of the Soviet Union, the Eastern Bloc, Southeast Asia, and China (before they injected a little capitalism into their economy) called supporters of a free market system "Capitalist Pigs." Communists hate capitalism. Socialists hate capitalism. Fascists hate capitalism.
Is it a coincidence that the most tyrannical and deadly systems in history hate capitalism?
Without capitalism, socialism cannot exist. Collectives are parasitic, unable to produce their own wealth, so they need to feed off of the wealth of capitalistic prosperity in order to have enough power to complain about capitalistic prosperity. Socialism is power-driven, however. In other words, while the purveyors of socialism are claiming the power structure of capitalism is controlled by greedy corporations who are unfairly enslaving the lower classes, the purveyors of socialism are saying such so that the useful idiots of the lower classes will rise up and deliver upon the socialists the power of the capitalists in order to satisfy their greed for power, and enable the socialists to enslave the lower classes in a worse situation where the ability to rise out of poverty becomes a government-imposed impossibility.
What happened in the Soviet Union, in China, and in other places where communism became the system of the land, resulted in violence, misery and death, and now that disease has gripped the entire planet. Anti-capitalist socialists are emerging, and we are doing nothing to stop the madness.
This is not to say that the entirety of the global population are ready to raise the red flag of socialism. There is an opposing force, though it seems sometimes that the opposition is in the minority. It seems that way, but the true numbers are never known until the revolution begins. Honestly, I believe most people are not leftist collectivists. But apathy, and numerous distractions, keep people from caring, from being involved. Besides, the socialist movement is so gradual that rather than recognize what is happening, and fighting what is happening, people are simply adjusting to the changes like a frog in a pot of hot water.
In New York and London we have recently seen rallies of anti-communists. Europe is pretty much under the control of socialism, and the younger generation is calling for greater government control. The President of the United States is unapologetically moving us towards socialism. We, as a society, are calling for the very thing our enemy was calling for. They told us they would take us over from within, and truly, that is what is happening.
It was capitalism that made this nation, and the Western World, prosper. It is the abandonment of a free market capitalistic system that will send us into bondage. They are plotting, and they will win . . if we let them.
