I almost don't trust myself to speak of this.
Almost, that is.
Turns out his cover story for his looming coup de tat is his kids:
Barack Obama said Thursday that his family would stay in Washington for a few years beyond the end of his presidency, until his youngest daughter finishes high school.
Although the forty-fourth president is not known for his love of the U.S. capital, Obama said it was a case of necessity....
Obama indicated that it was not clear where they would move after his presidency ends in January 2017.
"We haven't figured that out yet," he said. "We're going to have to stay a couple of years so Sasha can finish" school, he said.
"Transferring someone in the middle of high school - tough."
Not to be pedantic about this, but is there any precedent for a POTUS overstaying his presidency just so one of his kids doesn't have to switch schools in mid-stream? I don't think that's the way it works, and it speaks, at the very least, to putting Sasha's sensibilities way too high on the presidential priority list. Which is why it sounds like a phony cover story for something far more sinister in the near-term offing.
Especially in light of the story's punchline:
Obama is likely to spend at least a bit of his post-presidency writing his memoirs....
A pure guess.
....beyond that he has not revealed his plans. [emphasis added]
Nothing....ominous about that statement, is there?
One thing we can count on: When he does "reveal his plans," it's going to make everybody forget all about Donald Trump.
