The House of Representatives is set to vote on H.R. 5053: Preventing IRS Abuse and Protecting Free Speech Act.
Constitutionally, what the IRS does is illegal. The very existence of the IRS screams in the face of the principles and philosophies of limited government contained on the pages of the United States Constitution.
Nonetheless, free speech is under assault, and the IRS is at the helm of much of it. The targeting of conservative groups by the IRS is but a tip of the iceberg.
H.R. 5053 is designed to protect the First Amendment, to protect the identities of donors to charitable organizations, and to protecting organizations from being targeted by the IRS for political reasons.
“Richard Nixon had the decency to write down his own enemies list. Obama and Hillary Clinton want the IRS to compile the list of individuals who give to political causes they disapprove of. We know how they will abuse that list. It has happened already through leaks,” said Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform. “And we’ve seen the Democrat Attorneys General across the country attack people for holding views supporting institutions that disagree with them on a carbon tax.”

A vote is expected soon on this bill. Call and tweet your Representative and urge them to vote yes for H.R. 5053. Also, encourage them to continue to hold the IRS accountable by impeaching IRS Commissioner John Koskinen.
