Texas Shooting Targets Small Church

By Douglas V. Gibbs

I was at a conference for the American Freedom Alliance (of which I am a fellow), yesterday, when the news of over twenty people being shot by a crazed gunman in a small church in Texas near San Antonio reached us.  Shortly afterward, we became aware of a shooting outside a Fresno Church, as well, and wondered for a moment if the liberal left antifa and other crazies were beginning to target churches.  It turned out the shooting in Fresno was the result of a domestic violence situation gone deadly.

The vitriol we are seeing from the liberal left in today's political atmosphere was a large part of what our conference in Los Angeles was all about.  We were discussing how conservative speech is being shut down by angry violence on college campuses, in the streets, on media outlets, and so forth.  The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) was also a large part of our conversation, and as we were listening to speakers on the subject, the news about the shooting reached us.

While we immediately recognized that the shooting was likely by an individual who was out of control and crazy enough to do what he did, and was likely triggered by leftist ideological triggers (notice it isn't right-wing conservative republicans that have been behind the mass-shootings we keep experiencing as a country), as expected the Democrats and their minions in entertainment and the press immediately screamed for more gun control as they blamed guns, rather than the individual.

Personally, my response is normally, "if guns kill people, how do people get out of gun shows and gun shops alive?"

Of course, the Democrats want gun control. That's what tyrannical philosophies support, because a disarmed people are a compliant people.  History is filled with example after example of socialist regimes demanding gun control so that they may more easily control the people (Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, Communist China, Communist Vietnam, Communist Cambodia, Communist Laos, Communist Cuba, Socialist Venezuela, the socialists of Europe, and so on, and so on).

A country in which the government fears the people is one of liberty.  A country in which the people fears the government is a tyranny.
