San Francisco Terror Attack Thwarted

By Douglas V. Gibbs

An ex-Marine follower of Islam planned an ISIS inspired Christmas terrorist attack on San Francisco's Pier 39, but it was thwarted before it could be performed.  A number of terrorist threats have emerged during this year's Christmas Season.

The 26-year-old arrested regarding the California attack reportedly stated that "Christmas was the perfect day" for a terror attack in San Francisco and "did not need an escape plan because he was ready to die."

The suspect arrested by the FBI is named Everitt Aaron Jameson.  Jameson also referred to himself as Abdallah adu Everitt ibn Gordon.

The 26-year-old is charged with attempting to supply support to a foreign terrorist organization, specifically the Islamic State. According to FBI documents, he posted and liked pro-ISIS and pro-terrorism content on Facebook.

The suspect reportedly picked the Pier 39 location because he "had been there before and knew it was a heavily crowded area." He added that it would be easy to "funnel" people into an area where he could inflict casualties.

Officials, after obtaining a search warrant, seized numerous items from the home of the man accused of plotting a terror attack on San Francisco's Pier 39 for Christmas Day.
Jameson denied the allegations during a hearing in federal court Friday.

He had been communicating with undercover FBI agents, at one point writing, "I'm glad to know we Muslims are finally hitting back."

On another occasion he said to an undercover FBI agent, "I was a soldier in the Kuffar army before I reverted [to Islam]. I have been trained in combat and things of war. [God willing,] anything of that nature."

Jameson met with a second undercover FBI agent and "expressed that he was willing to do anything for 'the cause,'" including traveling to fight with ISIS in Syria.

Jameson faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted. He was ordered held for a Dec. 28 detention hearing.

Jameson made a pledge to the Muslim faith two years ago at an Islamic center in Merced.
