Florida Rejects Gun Ban, Embraces Good Guys with Guns

Florida: After gun violence rocked a high school in Parkland, the Florida State Senate has rejected a proposed ban on "assault" weapons, and instead voted to arm some teachers.

The vote was 20-17 against the assault weapon ban, with two Republicans joining all of the senate’s 15 Democrats in support of the proposal.  Protesters rallied outside the Florida Capitol hoping for gun control laws, and with news of the failure of the ban reaching them, the response from activist David Hogg was, “Elections are going to be fun!”

While the conservative Republicans argue that good guys with guns stop bad guys with guns, Democrats have been defending their failed idea of gun-free zones.

Their response to the "arm the teachers" idea is largely, “It’s a crazy idea.” And, “We need fewer guns, not more guns.”

It's a typical response by the liberal left, be it worldwide, or with individuals.  During the Cold War the liberal left Democrats called for a “nuclear freeze,” including a unilateral freeze by Western countries.  No matter how violent the Soviet Union was, the left always opposed a strong Western military.  They believed if we disarm ourselves, the big bad Soviet Union would follow suit.

Such belief turned out to be folly.  Ronald Reagan was right when he called for an an anti-ballistic missile defense system.  Israel is right to launch attacks against those who seek to destroy her.  The liberal left was wrong when they tried to appease Hitler prior to World War II (Neville Chamberlain comes to mind), they were wrong when they sought to appease communism in the 20th century, and they are wrong today with their appeasement positions regarding Islamic terrorism, and the Stalinist North Korean regime.

Strength in the face of evil is not something the liberal left tends to support.  Their enemy is not evil-doers.  Their enemy takes the form of statues, history that does not comply with their message, anyone who refuses to believe their manipulated climate models, “white privilege,” unborn babies, “Islamophobia,” and anyone who has a single strand of morality.

The left doesn’t fight evil; it fights those who do.
