A Few Notes About the Mid-Term 2022 Election

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Anomalies in the Election?  Not sure if the vote count can be trusted?  What did the Founding Fathers do?  Remember that Biden felt even good enough to throw around fear and accusations about the election before it even happened.  You know, because we need to save democracy.  In truth, we have lost our way.  There are tried and true methods we could be following.
In truth, our voting system has become an embarrassment...
Think the Chinese might have their hand in our elections?
How about social media.  Are they involved in working to manipulate the elections, and perhaps even influence them enough to change outcomes?
Well, at least we are free to tell our fellow Christians through our churches to vote their values, right?
How about Christian groups, or even just Republican groups, that are working to make sure the sickos are not holding seats on school boards?  Are they being targeted too?
Out of State Progressives are Bankrolling their Agenda in States who have been fighting back against certain issues, too:
The Fact that free speech is even in this kind of danger boggles the mind...be careful, don't use the words "fraud" or "vaccine injury" or you might get canceled.
We learned during the scamdemic (if you weren't already aware) that the Democrats and their government-should-be-an-all-powerful-leviathan allies were a bunch of authoritarians.  They are in a quest for more power.  What's the answer to the question?  For them, it's always "more government".

"What will Democrats do when Donald Trump isn’t around to lose elections [to them]? We have to wonder because on Tuesday Democrats succeeded again in making the former president a central campaign issue, and Trump helped them do it. Trumplican candidates failed at the ballot box in States that were clearly winnable.....Yet maybe the defeats are what the party needs to hear before 2024." https://www.wsj.com/articles/donald-trump-is-the-gops-biggest-loser-midterm-elections-senate-house-congress-republicans-11668034869?mod=hp_opin_pos_3&fbclid=IwAR2xYcOBrbX3tL7oWylyNjP7FKSnTukNPwp716yRVQAknG4hdQgtYDbbyoM#cxrecs_s

"That the Republican Party could not do better in this terrible political environment serves as a searing indictment of the choices it has made in recent years. Candidates matter — especially in Senate and gubernatorial races — and the GOP has simply forgotten how to pick figures who can win. Herschel Walker, Mehmet Oz, Blake Masters, Adam Laxalt, Doug Mastriano, Don Bolduc, Karoline Leavitt, John Gibbs — these are people who should never have gotten near their nominations. Consider, by way of comparison, how well the non-Trump-picked candidates did on Tuesday and had done before. Look at Mike DeWine, Marco Rubio, Greg Abbott, and Brian Kemp. Think back to 2014, in which year the GOP picked up nine seats in the Senate. At some point, Republican voters are bound to recognize that....'handpicked by Donald Trump' is not a virtue but the kiss of death. When they do, they’ll turn decisively on Trump and his schtick. But, until that happens, they’ll lose — and they’ll deserve to." https://www.nationalreview.com/magazine/2022/11/28/from-red-wave-to-red-shoals/?utm_source=recirc-desktop&utm_medium=homepage&utm_campaign=top-of-nav&utm_content=hero-module&fbclid=IwAR30KQAPFSpG3Qq2BNsBonzrXtOFxAFJ8-5wL1eM8nnxm6x2Y5XSXmz4-iA

"Relatively normal Republicans with proven track records of competent governance are a better bet than novice Trumpy minions. If the GOP had simply let Mitch McConnell pick Senate candidates instead of deferring to Trump, Rick Scott, and the infotainment wing of the party, the Senate would surely be firmly in Republican control." https://thedispatch.com/newsletter/gfile/in-praise-of-competence/?utm_source=ActiveCampaign&utm_medium=email&utm_content=In%20Praise%20of%20Competence&utm_campaign=In%20Praise%20of%20Competence&vgo_ee=ldOBSPaIcLbiBWBezUWdOa4z2ucVbRr6fR2gO9mHJw8%3D&fbclid=IwAR1IOhAu7La1z5YEKmNSmWV5_dlt-mpiNhWd_IeYaTCON1DPktsxCX2k7fI

"For Republicans, the failure to translate this highly favorable environment into decisive majorities invites the party to return to basics: candidate quality, an actual agenda — and to hell with Trump loyalty tests." https://www.nationalreview.com/the-weekend-jolt/we-can-do-better/?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20221112_Weekend_Jolt&utm_term=Jolt-Smart&fbclid=IwAR3ATkFrh_qmvo9X_h6qINhgmiNxR_Ze8p0D0tcy0ZTenJug53_hVl5noZk

"'Stop the steal' is a stone-cold political loser. It repelled independents. All the 'stop the steal' secretary-of-state candidates in swing States lost. The issue was a handy way to paint any candidate associated with it as out of the mainstream. Yet it was alpha and omega, the be-all and end-all, the prime directive for Trump....No one else would have given any candidate this advice; no one else would have thought it was good advice; no one else would have thought it was even remotely rational. This party-wide focus was a Trump creation, and his alone." https://www.nationalreview.com/2022/11/the-trump-excuses-that-dont-work/?fbclid=IwAR3aFTAUVWHEAlrCdowXq8rtE7_AKZfVUhV-JE7inwiyGM1pxo5D1ste8oo

"The GOP nominating Ron DeSantis for president would represent a welcome return to normalcy and sanity in American politics. Even if you’re a national [socia]list, it is fair to wonder if the increasingly erratic and vindictive Donald Trump gets you where you want to go. If you’re a conservative, you’ve got good reason to want a president who actually cares about policy, governance, and running the executive branch. And even if you’re liberal, DeSantis would represent an improvement because he isn’t inclined to burn down the country in a tantrum if he thinks someone is being 'unfair' to him." https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/11/14/desantis-normal-republican/?fbclid=IwAR173Bn0F8RK8yCjXjsQLFXVpLxej_wuyYP1Jidrp-vNRHrubjcz62yoQzs

Y'all can continue wallowing in delusion, excuse-making, and puerile finger-pointing and continue to lose to, and aid & abet "progressive" Democrats, or you can wake up, grow up, dump Trump, and return to winning elections.

Doesn't seem like a difficult choice, and wouldn't have to the one-time friend and colleague I used to know.
