Common Sense Conservatism

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The battleground between the ideologies on the issues stirs emotions.  Stirring emotions elicits reactionary responses.  When one reacts without stopping and using common sense to articulate a response, we fall into the hands of those that wish to impose more government on the masses.

Liberalism is all about emotion, and nothing about common sense.  They contradict themselves on issues, they paint tyranny as being sympathetic to the poor masses, and they have convinced a large portion of the populace that the best way to save money is to spend, spend, and spend some more.

Death has become a right, and perversion has become a lifestyle.  The people who wish to take away your ability to protect yourself hire armed security to protect them.  The people who state that government-paid health care is the best thing for you has exempted themselves from the health care law.  Our allies have become the enemy, and the enemy has become our friends.  Terrorists are being called freedom fighters, and our military veterans are being called potential terrorists.

But with all of the madness, and the obvious truth that comes with those issues, conservatives have been labeled as extreme, radical, and a problem to the political system.

In reality, the liberal left has moved so far to the left that what used to be considered mainstream conservatism has become right-wing extremism in the eyes of the opposition.

Conservatism is not extreme, and the Constitution is actually dead center on the political spectrum.  In reality, when it comes to the issues, it is all about common sense.

Economy

In any financial situation, the common sense approach is that more must be earned than spent.  If spending increases, and revenue does not, then there will be a problem.  However, in a governmental system where taxation is involved, if revenue increases by taxing the public more, that leaves less revenue for the taxpayer to apply to their spending, therefore it forces the taxpayer to reduce spending to accommodate the reduction in revenue.  Less spending by the taxpayer means less production from the businesses, and less consumerism from the consumers.  Therefore, to increase productivity and consumerism, the taxes must be reduced.  By reducing taxes the private sector will begin to flourish, which should then increase profit and wages, which in turn will increase revenue to the government.  If government spending increases faster than revenue is able to,  and since increasing taxes against businesses and individuals will reduce productivity and consumerism, this leaves the government with no alternative than to reduce government spending.  To fail to reduce spending so that is does not increase faster than revenue is unsustainable, and will eventually lead to the collapse of the system.

Constitutional note on the economy:  The federal government is only supposed to spend on constitutionally authorized matters, like the common defense, securing the national borders, and running constitutionally granted organizations like the post office, patent office, and copyright office. . . to name a few.  The federal government is not supposed to be funding items that fall under State authorities, like education, roadways, and local transportation.  If the federal government was to eliminate all unconstitutional spending at this moment, the level of federal spending would be at about 5% of GDP.  An elimination of the federal income tax would set back revenues to the same revenue level of 1998.  In the late 1800s federal spending averaged between three and four percent, and there was no income tax back then.

Abortion

In the Declaration of Independence the three examples of God-given rights listed are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.  Life being mentioned first shows us how important the sanctity of life was to the Founding Fathers.  In Rome, as the collapse of the empire approached, abortion was also an issue that had raised its violent head.  In the Roman Empire, however, they allowed post-birth abortion.  If a couple did not approve of their child for any reason, including the color of the baby's eyes, it was perfectly legal to leave the child, as long as he or she was less than two years old, on the road to die from the elements.  Christians were often arrested for attempting to save these abandoned children.

In the United States, the ability for a woman to end the life of her unborn child is being hailed as a "reproductive right."  The liberal left has pushed for abortions to be legal up to the full term of the pregnancy, and Barack Obama as an Illinois State Senator voted against a bill that would require that babies that survive an abortion receive emergency care.  Instead, these people wanted the botched abortion to lay there, struggling for life, to die from the elements of the outside world without assistance.  Christians are attacked for speaking out against such a practice.

Cass Sunstein, one of Barack Obama's past Regulatory Czars, once wrote that abortion was fine up to two years old.

These are the same people that consider the murder of a pregnant woman a double homicide.

Constitutional Note on Abortion: No medical procedure, including abortion, is mentioned in the Constitution in the first seven articles, or any of the amendments, as being an authority of the federal government.  Since it is not an authority of the federal government, and not prohibited to the States (Amendment 10), then that makes the issue a State issue.  The States are free to decide individually whether or not to make abortion legal, or illegal, in their State.  Roe v. Wade overturned a Texas law banning abortion, making the case unconstitutional.  The court not only overturned a State law on a State issue, but also made law through the ruling by making abortion federally legal.  All legislative powers at the federal level belong to Congress, as per Article I, Section 1 of the Constitution.

Guns

Gun Control has never reared its ugly head until 2013 because it has always been a losing issue for democrats in the United States.  America is undoubtedly a pro-gun society, populated by people that hold dear their right to keep and bear arms.  The Founding Fathers penned in the Second Amendment that the federal government has no authority to infringe on that right in any way.

Now, after a series of shootings, and after using emotion-filled propaganda to stir up the masses, the liberal left democrats are hammering away on the issue, with the full intent to eventually, someday, confiscate all firearms in America.

Statistics show that an armed society is a safer society.  When the populace is armed, the criminal element is reluctant to commit their criminal activity.  The criminal element prefers that their opposition is unarmed.

In Great Britain, after the guns were confiscated in 1997, the occurrence of violent crimes and home invasions went up drastically.  Though liberal leftists like Piers Morgan likes to state that gun deaths are down, he fails to recognize and verbalize the increase in violent crime in that country since the full confiscation of all firearms.  Killers, and people who use violence in their criminal activity, may be using guns less because of the decreased availability, but they have increased their violent activity through other methods because though they are unarmed, they know their potential victims are as well.  Burglary becomes a much easier proposition when you are not worried about hearing that clicking noise of a gun somewhere in the house.

I have always found it interesting that the people who wish to take away your right to defend yourself, your loved ones, and your private property hire armed security to protect their own lives.

Constitutional Note on Guns: The 2nd Amendment was written to apply to the federal government.  The federal government "shall not infringe" on the citizen's right to keep and bear arms.  The right to keep and bear arms, according to the 2nd Amendment, is "necessary" for the "security of a free State."  In other words, necessary to protect the States, and that includes from a tyrannical government.

For those that claim the mention of a well regulated militia in the amendment means that gun possession is a collective right, rather than an individual right, we have to remember who the militia is, and the definition of the language used.  The militia, according to Title 10 of the U.S. Code, is broken into two groups - the organized militia, and the unorganized militia.  The organized militia would be State militias, and the National Guard.  The unorganized militia is everyone else.  Therefore, we are all a part of the militia.

For the militia to be well regulated means for it to be "in good order."  We must remember the disarray of the militias under the command of George Washington.  The stories of history tell us that many of the folks in the militias during the War of Independence had no shoes, and the muskets were of various sizes.  The militia during the American Revolution was not in good order.

In the 1828 Webster's dictionary, the definition for "regulate" is, after the primary definition regarding weights and measures, "to put in good order."  This was also the definition being used in the 2nd Amendment.

Entitlements

The liberal left hails entitlement programs as being the ultimate charity.  These folks, once again fueled by their raging emotions, feel better about themselves when they are using government to take from the successful only to redistribute those funds to the poor.

For the political element, the redistribution of wealth is a fantastic way to buy votes.  When giving gifts from the treasury to a class of people, that particular class stops caring about the issues, and is convinced through their own human nature to only care about if their entitlements continue.  This means they will vote, regardless of any other issue, for the politicians promising to continue to give them gifts from the government treasury.  Since it comes from government, people begin to believe they are entitled to the gifts, and as we have seen in Europe, will even resort to rioting if the entitlements are reduced.

Conservatives agree that the poor should be looked after, and assisted, but not by government.  Individualism suggests that charity must be a voluntary decision made by each individual that decides to help. When this happens, the recipient is less likely to view the assistance as an entitlement, and more likely to view it as a gift of charity.  This makes the recipient more likely to appreciate it, and more likely to work their way out of their unfortunate circumstances so that they can do the same for someone else.  Charity, unlike entitlements, encourages the recipients to improve themselves, to prosper, and to share that prosperity as individuals in a voluntary manner.

Constitutional Note: Entitlements are not authorized by the Constitution to the federal government.  This does not mean the States can't have such programs, though I don't believe these programs are beneficial even at the State level.  In fact, to protect the nation against "vote buying" by the politicians, non-property owners didn't even have the ability to vote in elections because they had no skin in the game.  When a voter has no skin in the game, reasoned the founders, the way to win their vote will be by buying it with gifts from the public treasury - a practice the founders knew would lead to the downfall of our financial system.

Marriage

The issue of marriage has become a hot topic because of the push for gay marriages to be recognized as valid by the government.  My first thought is "why is government involved in marriage in the first place?"

It is amazing that those that practice the gay lifestyle wish to marry when a few decades ago these same people were ostracizing marriage.

As a Christian, I believe that marriage is between a man and a woman, and that homosexuality is a perverted lifestyle.  However, this is America, and except for things like murder, lying under oath, or theft, a sinful lifestyle is not, and should not be, punishable by whatever the government deems.  Such a lifestyle, as sinful as it may be, is an individual choice.

The gay agenda's desire to redefine marriage has become an issue that among the younger crowd dominates their political world.  Homosexuals have used a well-funded lobby to convince the public that theirs is a struggle for a civil right - a constitutional right.

Conservatives largely do not wish to use the power of the law to outlaw homosexuality.  Though the lifestyle is seen as being perverted, and unnatural, it is the business of those that decide to engage in such a lifestyle.  However, conservatives tend to not wish for the traditional definition of marriage to be changed for a group that wishes to destroy the very institution they claim to desire.  Nor should institutions be redefined to accommodate a behavior, nor should the door be opened to eventually enable the gay lobby to force all churches to allow gay marriage because it is deemed a "constitutional right."

Constitutional Note:  Like abortion, there is no authority over marriage mentioned in the Constitution for the federal government.  This means that it is a State issue, and for the States to decide individually.  This would also mean that the federal Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional, as well as the federal court's decision to strike down Proposition 8 in California.

Torture by Iranian Captors of Christian Pastor Includes Demands that he "Deny Christ"

Imprisoned American says Iranian captors 'waiting for me to deny Christ'

American pastor Saeed Abedini, jailed in a notoriously brutal Iranian prison for his Christian faith, is facing physical and psychological torture at the hands of captors demanding he renounce his beliefs, according to supporters.

The 32-year-old married father of two, who left his home in Boise, Idaho, to help start an orphanage in his latest country, detailed “horrific pressures” and “death threats,” is a letter to family members, according to his U.S.-based attorneys.

"They are only waiting for one thing…for me to deny Christ. But they will never get this from me.”

The Sequester Lie

By Douglas V. Gibbs

President Barack Obama and the liberal democrats have painted a picture of doom and gloom if the scheduled March 1 sequester goes into action. . . and all of the carnage, they claim, will be the Republican Party's fault. . . especially those pesky conservatives in the GOP.

With trillions of dollars of government spending, they expect you to believe that a mere $85 billion will collapse everything.  They want you to believe the federal government is everything to everybody, and the slightest drop in spending will doom us all!

The sequester was Barack Obama's idea.  In 2011 he vowed to veto any attempt to stop the sequester.  The sequester is not a cut in spending.  It is, instead, a decade long reduction in the future growth in spending.  In other words, the federal government will continue to spend more money each year, than the previous year, but with the sequester they will not spend as much more as they had originally planned.

All hell will not break loose.  If anything, the cuts aren't enough. . . because they are not actually spending cuts.

It is all scare tactics.  They are crying wolf, and hoping once again the republicans back down.  I say, "Bring it on."  Let the sequester go into action.

The problem is, I put nothing past the democrats.  When everyone was positive Romney would win, they launched an incredible "get out the vote" effort, along with some fraudulent tactics, and an attack campaign that left people dizzy in regards to Romney.  It would not surprise me that if the sequester goes into action, the democrats stage crisis after crisis to make people think the "spending cuts" devastated the precious government.  There is no reason the sequester would affect anything.  It is like cutting a dime out of my paycheck.  It is like a fly smacking someone in the helmet as they ride their motorcycle.  Yet, we are expected to believe that the fly will knock the riders off the bike.

It is all lies, but I am thinking they will back up the lies with more lies to convince everyone that the sequester caused collapse, and it is the republican party's fault.

Remember, these people want to eliminate all opposition.  This is just another tactic to do so.

Day of Resistance. . . in Temecula, and over 130 other locations around the country!

The Democrat Party, led by President Barack Obama, has decided it is time to go after your God-given right to keep and bear arms.  On January 16, 2013 President Obama issued 23 executive orders against gun owners in America.  His unilateral actions were without the consent of Congress, and in direct violation of the United States Constitution.

The federal government has no authorities granted to it regarding gun rights.  "Shall Not Be Infringed" is a phrase that is pretty definitive.

The Democrats don't care about the Constitution, or the foundational principles this nation was founded on.

In response to these unconstitutional Presidential directives, and all of the other anti-gun actions being attempted by Democrats, on February 23 the American people will stand together in protest at over 130 rallies across the nation.

We have declared a Day Of Resistance.

In Temecula the rally will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.  I will be there during the first hour before I head out to the KCAA radio studios.  Join me as we stand against the tyranny of the Obama administration.

Who Is Robert Davi?

By Douglas V. Gibbs

An easy face to recognize, but difficult to name.  One might ask, "Who is the guy from The Goonies that was singing opera in the abandoned restaurant?"  Or, "Who was the drug cartel villain in the James Bond Movie 'Licence to Kill?"  How about his roles in over 100 movies and television episodes?

Then, might I add, he sings, too!

I mentioned to Mr. Davi on the phone today that when I talk to people about him they know his face, but not his name.

"Yes," he said. "We need to change that."

Davi Sings Sinatra is doing so.  The voice of Davi is incredible.

Who would have thought that the nemesis of Chunk in The Goonies was such a talented singer?

Oh, wait, he was singing opera in the movie. . .

If you want to get to know Robert Davi a little better, Saturday afternoon, February 23rd, is your chance.  Robert Davi will be joining me on Constitution Radio on KCAA 1050 AM at 2:05 pm Pacific for a half hour interview that will be open to phone calls.  Call in at 888-909-1050, and listen live at KCAAradio.com.  We will be talking about his acting career, singing career, the perils of being a conservative in Hollywood, and his upcoming faith-based film "A Long Way Off" based on the Biblical Parable of the Prodigal Son.

Oh, and join my wife and I by getting tickets for the concert in Redondo Beach, California on March 23rd.

Obama and Biden call for banning semi-automatics. . . ignorance rules these misguided emotions against guns

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Okay, let's get this straight.  Each and every idiotic call for gun control is based on myths and lies about guns.  People who don't understand guns believe the propaganda, and they are banning things they don't understand.

For example, they are all for banning semi-automatics.   Does the average liberal even know what designates a gun as a semi-automatic?  I asked a liberal friend, and he said, "It sprays bullets, like the machine gun scenes in the movies.

BZZZZZZ - wrong answer.

A Semi-Automatic is a gun that can shoot one shot at a time without having to make an additional motion to put the next round in place.  In other words, it shoots one shot by simply pulling the trigger.  I have two revolvers, for example, that would be considered semi-automatics because after I fire them, the cylinder spins to the next slot, and the next shot is ready to be fired.  All I must do is pull the trigger again.  My single-action six revolver, however, is not a semi-automatic, because after firing, I must pull back the hammer to turn the cylinder and place the next bullet in position to be fired.

----

"Do you really need an assault weapon to defend your home?"

Yes.  Besides, there is no such thing as an assault weapon.  That is a term made up by the liberal left to scare the ignorant into demanding guns be banned.  The AR-15, for example, is being called an "assault weapon" because it looks scarier than my hunting rifle - yet the only difference is the cosmetic addition of a pistol grip to the AR-15.  There is such thing as an "assault rifle," but those have a switch that can quickly change the gun from single shot, multiple shot, and fully automatic.  Those guns, by the way, are already considered illegal.

----

Hollow point bullets are becoming a part of the discussion regarding gun control. The bullet mushrooms upon impact, causing more damage.  They have been nicknamed "cop killers."  The liberal left deems them as dangerous, and claims they should not be owned by the average citizen.  However, when a woman with her two children shot an intruder in her house five times, the man still departed, and drove his car down the street before he collapsed.  A hollow point bullet would have dropped him in the house with only a second shot.  For safety, and protecting my property, I will take the hollow point.

----

That's just a few.  We will go over more in the coming weeks.

Las Vegas Shooting Will Bring About More Gun Control Talk

Police: Hotel altercation sparked Vegas shooting

Bullets were flying from a black Range Roverat a gray Maserati as the vehicles raced toward a red light on the Las Vegas Strip.

Beneath the neon lights, police say, the Maserati ran a red light at one of the Strip's busiest intersections and smashed into a taxi that exploded into flames early Thursday, killing the two people inside.

Three more cars and a utility truck also collided at the crossroads home to Bellagio, Caesars Palace and Bally's, injuring at least six more people as the Range Rover sped off in the pre-dawn darkness.

The Maserati driver was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The dramatic scene that more than one tourist compared to something out of a violent action movie set off a frantic search for the occupants of the Range Rover that continued into the night, and marked the latest violent episode on the Strip since the beginning of the year.

. . . and here comes more gun control talk - just you watch.

Chinese Cyber-Attacks Hack into over 100 Governmental Departments

American computer analysts have traced more than 100 attacks on government departments, companies and journalists to the site of the 12-storey building about 40 minutes outside Shanghai's city centre.

A 60-page report by Mandiant, a computer security company, said the headquarters of People's Liberation Army Unit 61398 was located in the compound.

The Daily Telegraph confirmed that a woman who questioned a reporter's purpose in visiting the area was a member of Unit 61398. While she admitted her afilliation, she refused to produce any identification.

The Mandiant report said a hacking network named the Comment Crew or the 'Shanghai Group' operated from the compound. It said "hundreds, and perhaps thousands of people" were working inside to breach the security of global corporations, as well as foreign power grids, gas lines and waterworks.

While the Shanghai PLA base is off-limits to outsiders, the existence of the military compound is no secret in what is a bustling residential neighbourhood.

Bulgaria the Next Domino to Fall in Europe

By Douglas V. Gibbs

Liberal economic policies are impossible to sustain.  They may work for a while, but eventually the math of it all catches up, and the system collapses.  In Europe, where policies of government dependence have reigned supreme, the countries one by one are running into severe economic difficulties.  Riots have erupted in Bulgaria, and amid the turmoil, and the collapsing financial practices throughout Europe, the government in Bulgaria has resigned.

The riots are the result of austerity measures taken in an attempt to save the country.  Recognizing that they can't afford to take care of the people in the manner they have been, programs are being pulled back, reduced, and in some cases done away with, in the hopes of saving the nation's economy.  The people, heavily dependent upon the government, believing they are entitled to the programs, and caring more about their immediate needs than the reality that the government just can't afford to do it anymore, have taken to the streets to destroy their society.

There just isn't enough money to pay for everything liberalism demands.

The Founding Fathers agreed, putting into place a system of a free market where the businessman and worker were able to keep more of what they earned, without punitive taxation, or heavy government regulations.

Alexander Hamilton's Federalists disagreed, supporting the concepts of implied powers (so that they may treat the Constitution as if it was a living document that could sway like a reed in the wind), a high government debt, high taxation, government spending, a flood of paper money, and privileged bank monopolies that took advantage of the policies of mercantilism.  Jefferson was disillusioned by these practices, and had concluded that even his beloved Democratic-Republican Party had actually adopted the economic policies of the despised Hamiltonian federalists.

Former President John Adams, though a Federalist, held banking views similar to Jefferson's.  Adams once said, ". . . banks have done more injury to the religion, morality, tranquility, prosperity, and even wealth of the nation, than they … ever will do good.  Our whole banking system, I ever abhorred, I continue to abhor, and shall die abhorring … every bank of discount, every bank by which interest is to be paid or profit of any kind made by the deponent, is downright corruption."

In part, it is the massive international bankers that benefit from the massive government debt that is toppling governments, like Bulgaria's, because they encourage the failed policies of liberalism, and encourage the massive debt, because for their own pockets and power, struggling governments are the best thing.

President Barack Obama is chasing similar policies that has brought down Europe, and these liberal policies, fueled by propaganda of class warfare, accusations of racism, and rising government dependency, will ultimately bring the United States to the point of collapse that the European nations face now.

The world is preparing for collapse because it chases policies that brought down other mighty empires. . . like the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.

"Islam" Removed from Understanding War With Terrorism Course

A top United States counterterrorism expert, who taught a course that familiarized military officers with the U.S. war against radical Islamists was fired from a military collegeand had his course removed from the curriculum, is retaliating against university officials, according to a U.S. police counterterrorism expert on Friday.

The Thomas More Law Center (TMLC), a national public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Mich., reportedly filed a formal complaint with the president of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education(Commission) challenging the accreditation of the National Defense University (NDU) on behalf of Lt. Col. Matthew A. Dooley (U.S. Army) .

The police source, Sean Hanrahan, told the Law Enforcement Examiner that the officer/instructor was informed the course materials would be revamped to exclude references to Islam and use terms such as extremists or militants. In addition, the course instructor, Lt. Col. Dooley, was removed from the faculty permanently for telling students that practitioners of Islam are responsible for terrorism.

"One can only wonder how much protection students who practice Catholicism and Christianity would receive from this Administration and its media sycophants -- such as TV host Bill Maher -- when they verbally attack Christians," said former police commander and military officer Mike Snopes.

According to a source, the National Defense University's Joint Forces Staff College courseincluded a slide-show that told students -- mostly battle-hardened officers -- that the U.S. is fighting a life and death battle with Islamists and that "we need to recognize that the U.S. and its allies are at war with Islam."

JFSC educates military officers and other national security leaders in joint, multinational, and interagency operational-level planning and warfare, counterterrorism and other subjects.

According to the Law Enforcement Examiner source, it's believed a complaining soldier, whose identity is being protected, may be a pawn of some of the Muslim groups such as the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) or Muslim Advocates, who are currently suing the New York City Police Department for its training and police tactics.

"This politically correct nonsense would be laughed at if we had a reality check now and then. On the one hand, the majority of terrorist attacks worldwide are perpetrated by radical Muslims who actually apply the teachings of the Koran. Anyone who studies the history of Islam, especially within the last two hundred years will discover what America faces is not new," said Hanrahan.

Murrieta City Council Discusses Indoor Shooting Range

By Douglas V. Gibbs

During the public discussion only one person spoke out against amending the law to enable an indoor gun range to do business in Murrieta.  She said that the gun range would attract people with guns to the city, and we don't want that kind of criminal element to come to Murrieta.

Every speaker after her disagreed with the woman's flawed logic, and supported changing the ordinance to allow an indoor gun range into Murrieta.

In reality, despite the woman's silly rant, an indoor gun range would make Murrieta a safer city to live in.

The mass shootings we keep seeing in the news were perpetrated in "Gun Free Zones."  This is no accident. Those that plan to commit violence with guns want their victims to be unarmed.  Opposition interferes with their murderous plans.  An indoor gun range in Murrieta would attract law-abiding gun owners to the city, and a city with more gun owners in it repels the criminal element.

A gun range would also give local gun owners a place to practice shooting, and provide an environment for them to take gun-safety classes.  An equipped gun owner, who has practiced one's shooting techniques, feels more comfortable with a gun in their hands, and becomes a more confident shooter - exactly what you want to be if confronted by the criminal element in your home.

An indoor gun range in Murrieta would make the city a safer place to live, while increasing revenue to the city as a result of the new business being brought into the city.
