George Zimmerman in Custody, To Be Charged With Second Degree Murder

By Douglas V. Gibbs

The buzz all over the networks and big media websites is that George Zimmerman has been brought into custody, and him being charged with 2nd Degree Murder is only moments away.

I don't know what happened that fateful day when Zimmerman shot and killed Trayvon Martin. I am saddened that the teenager had to die, whether he was just an innocent kid as the media tries to portray him, or a punk that attacked Zimmerman as others are trying to portray him.  In the end, the facts will hopefully surface, and justice will be done properly. Whether the race baiters think Zimmerman is guilty or not, whether or not the mob will get their way in the end, Zimmerman must be granted his due process.

My fear is that the charge may have been fueled also by the politicizing of the incident by liberal leftists, shamefully including the President of the United States: Barack Obama, who desire a rise in racial tensions for their own gain.  My fear is that Zimmerman may not get a fair trial since so many people want to label him a racist, whether that label is warranted, or not.

That is the difference between a democracy that the liberal left wants us to be, and the republic the Founding Fathers designed this nation to be. If we are indeed a democracy as many folks seem to want to call it, the trial doesn't matter, we will have a kangaroo court where the mob will dictate the outcome, and they will be able to metaphorically hang him from the highest tree. However, if this nation truly is the republic I believe it to be, Zimmerman's trial will be based on the evidence, the facts of the case, and an impartial jury of his peers will examine that information and make their decision based on the evidence presented.

In other words, let's set aside the call for a race war as many are screaming of as a result of this unfortunate tragedy, and allow the system to work as it was designed to.
