All About Attitude

Today I was talking to a friend of mine and the subject of our conversation was the deterioration of societal values. There was a time in America when certain values were held up for generations.

Then, during the late sixties family values and traditions were tossed by the wayside. Enlightenment became a buzzward. Free love. Free thought. Tune in, turn on, drop out.

The attitude of society has been in a downward spiral ever since.

It is no surprise that when traditional values were no longer considered to be an important part of societal values, the number of cases of sexually transmitted diseases rose, as did the occurance of mental disease as well.

The war on Christmas, the increase of violence in our streets, the increase of violent crimes, sexual immorality, et centera, is a direct result of our changing attitude away from Christian based values.

What a simpler time it used to be.

Beyond what I have said in the prior paragraphs, I wasn't sure how to further state my meaning in this post, until my aunt sent me an e-mail that summed it up for me in the sense of simpler times, and humor regarding the generations past.

The e-mail contained the words of Will Rogers, who died in a plane crash with Wylie Post in 1935. He was probably the greatest political sage this country has ever known. The following concludes my post. Read them carefully. Though they are meant to be humorous, his words are also words to live by:

1. Never slap a man who's chewing tobacco.

2. Never kick a cow chip on a hot day.

3. There are 2 theories to arguing with a woman...neither works.

4. Never miss a good chance to shut up.

5. Always drink upstream from the herd.

6. If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.

7. The quickest way to double your money is to fold it and put it back in your pocket.

8. There are three kinds of men: The ones that learn by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.

9. Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

10. If you're riding' ahead of the herd, take a look back every now and then to make sure it's still there.

11. Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier'n puttin' it back.

12. After eating an entire bull, a mountain lion felt so good he started roaring. He kept it up until a hunter came along and shot him. The moral: When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut.

ABOUT GROWING OLDER...

First ~ Eventually you will reach a point when you stop lying about your age and start bragging about it.

Second ~ The older we get, the fewer things seem worth waiting in line for.

Third ~ Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved.

Fourth ~ When you are dissatisfied and would like to go back to youth, think of Algebra.

Fifth ~ You know you are getting old when everything either dries up or leaks.

Sixth ~ I don't know how I got over the hill without getting to the top.

Seventh ~ One of the many things no one tells you about aging is that it is such a nice change from being young.

Eighth ~ One must wait until evening to see how splendid the day has been.

Ninth ~ Being young is beautiful, but being old is comfortable.

Tenth ~ Long ago when men cursed and beat the ground with sticks, it was called witchcraft. Today it's called golf.

And finally ~ If you don't learn to laugh at trouble, you won't have anything to laugh at when you are old.

I guess do to my age I can gather some kind of good input on this because during that time I too was in my early 20's.

Yes I remember these words were in deed spoken first by Timothy Leary.

Timothy Leary's very words, Free love. Free thought. Tune in, turn on, drop out.

Especially this part "Tune in, turn on, drop out." Timothy Leary was big into the Drug Scene.

Will Rogers, a great FDR style democrat if there ever was one.

This is why I always say that, today, the liberals are the true conservatives.

The Liberals of John F. Kennedy's time period were more conservative than the Liberals of today.

The Liberals of today are more Socialists.

MK, today's Democrat looks nothing like the Democrats of years long gone. Many folks that were once Democrat changed over to the Republican Party when they realized the direction their party had taken. Will Rogers wasn't a great Democrat. He was a great American - FDR, and as was Reagan. I wish today's Democrat was like the old FDR Democrat. If that was the case, I'd be feeling a little safer, because I'd know that no matter who took the White House our nation would be protected. Now, I fear for my safety if the election in 2008 goes to the left. I hate fearing that way. I dislike not trusting the future. The Dems are no longer fighting for American values and national sovereignty as the old days. They are more like. . . Marxists.

Stop fearing. Have faith in your faith at least. Come on. Are you saying you fear me and people like me? If so, you are truely wasting your energy and misplacing your fear. We dems are doing what we can to preserve FDR's policies, and legacies, and which are progressive, and have been held in check by the rightwing congress since '94.

The big rightwing LIE is that Dems don't stand for FDR principles, and for national security. I'm sorry you've bought into it. You have nothing to fear from me or other liberals. We aren't the ones who brought us and the world to this current moment. If dems were appeasers of anyone, we were appeasers to Bush & Co. If only we had've stood up and been the loyal opposition, when Bush lied us into this quaqmire in the first place.

Quagmire being something that once your in, you can't get out of it.

My fave Will Rogers quote is the one you left out.

"I'm not a member of any organized party. I'm a democrat."

Yes you are a member of a organized party and that's right it's the democrap party.

FDR was not a progressive, that is just some phony word that the Leftist Marxist Commie Liberals had made up.
The Lunatic Leftists are not interested in preserving FDR's policies they only use him as a platform for their new idiocy.

You Liberals are not ever to be trusted again with national security because you Leftist ruined this Nation ever since you murdered billions of South Vietnamese by abandoning them to the murderous North Vietnamese.

The Leftwing lies all the time.

To say that Bush lied is as to say that Bill Clinton and the other Liberals in Congress Lied too, because guess what mudkitty they all said the very same thing that Bush did before we went into Iraq.

Anonymous said...

Only Clinton said it in 1998 - so the Bushies were relying on 5 year old intel.

And yes, FDR still lives in the hearts of the Democrats, and will live on now that the republicans aren't in power any longer, and can no longer carry out their radical plans to dismantle the New Deal.

You're a jeckle and hyde, rider.

Not only Clinton, the whole Liberal party said that. They even said that when Congress gave President George W. Bush the authority.

No you are wrong about the new deal and FDR is not cherished in the hearts of the Liberals today.

FDR would not support the vast far leftists of today's Liberal.

No I am no Jeckle and Hyde mudkitty but I am being honest with you, who else but me stuck up for you writing your tripe but me.

Rider, I would say the same thing about you.

There is no liberal party. The Dems are not liberals. They are the conservatives of today. Today the extremeists are the rightwingers who want to tear down the foundations of FDR's New Deal.

That's why I always say that the real conservatives today are the liberals.

I AM THE LIBERAL HERE AT THIS SITE. I CAN STATE UNEQUIVOCABLY THAT LIBERALS REVERE FDR IN VERY HIGH ESTEEM AS A LEADER DISPITE SOME FAILINGS AS A HUMAN BEING.

IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT LIBERALS THINK, ASK A LIBERAL. DON'T ASK RIDER, A SELF ADMITTED RIGHTWINGER.

If I want to know what rightwingers think, I will ask Rider.
